Just purchased one of these; CMMG AR-15 stripped lower receiver. I pick it up in 10 days.
One of the neat things about CA gun laws is that there are loop holes. One of which is if your magazine is fixed to the magazine well of the AR-15 and can only be removed using a tool; it doesn't fit the classification of an Assault rifle under CA law. You can have all of the evil and laughingly superficial items the socialist democratic gun grabbers try to scare the public with; pistol grip, flash suppressor (more on this item later), collapsible stock. BTW- a tool has been declared by CA courts to even extend to a single ammunition round.
The second thing to do is look at the CA list of banned so called "assault weapons". Since bureaucrats and legislators are lazy, they can't ID every manufacture of AR-15s. So there are plenty of legal AR-15 that you can buy if you're (1) willing to buy a stripped lower and build a CA legal AR-15 and (2) find a ffl dealer that sells stripped lower receivers in CA. As you can see above, I've found both.
So I'm going to purchase a third party item called a Bullet Button. Presto, an inserted 10 round mag is now non detachable! Not exactly what I want, but it will do. Plus, if the shit hit's the fan, the bullet button can be taken off and the regular magazine release reinstalled in a jiffy.
Once my lower receiver parts arrive. I'll post pics of the process. After that I'll decide what caliber I'm going pick for the upper receiver along with the upper receiver accessories and post pics as I complete the installs.
Now regarding flash suppressors or hiders. The Brady family and the gun grabbers would have you believe this little item hides the muzzle flash of the rifle so that OTHERS can not see it, particularly at night. The fact is, it does no such thing. It in fact it only suppresses the flash from the shooter, so as to help preserve the night vision of the shooters perspective. Everyone else can see the muzzle flash.
