bald head chrome dome maintenance knowledges
Had the barber shave my head. There wasn't much hair left in any case. I thought it might make me look tough, like Bruce Willis or, failing that, Shaf. Instead I sorta look like some Eastern European Pervert.
In any case, I did it a week ago. It's starting to grow back. So whatta you ball headed guys do? I don't want to shave with a blade. Friend of mine does that. He's alway got bandaids on his head. Is there a good electric razor? Like maybe that 3 head Norelco thing. The Wahl brand electric thing I use to trim my beard doesn't work very well, especially on the back of the head.

I used to shave my head once or twice a week. Use a good blade and you'll be fine. Not sure why your friend always cuts himself. Sure it happens from time to time, but unless you have an abnormally wrinkly head or something or haven't learned to shave it shouldn't be a problem.

Seahill:
Electric razors work, you have to buy a decent one, but....
Take the plunge. I'll walk you through it.
This is what you'll need.
1. Baking soda
2. A moisturizing soap bar, I use Men's Dove.
3. Aftershave of some type. I use a Dr. Bronner's lotion that has a bit of alcohol in it.
4. A sharp disposable razor. Personally, I use Schick Xtreme-3
Step 1: Wet down the head.
Step 2: Take a handful of baking soda and water, and put it on your head, cover the whole area you're going to shave. Rub it in a bit, let it gently debride the scalp.
Step 3: Get in shower, rinse off baking soda.
Step 4: Lather up scalp thoroughly with soap. Note, a cheap shaving oil like Shave Secret might be useful here as well if you need more lubrication.
Step 5: Shave.
-for me, the baking soda softens the hair significantly, so I shave in long strokes starting from back to front. I might then later up again and go from front to back and hit all the missing pieces.
This seems like a shitload of work, but the baking soda really makes the shaving quick when you get good at it.

Buy clippers at a drugstore or Walmart type store. I just bought a set by Conair for thirty bucks. Included scissors and comb, oil, a bunch of blade attachment I won't use and a little beard trimmer that works great for pubes. It should last four or five years. You never have to pay a barber again. Just get a handheld mirror so you can check the back. Missing a spot can be embarrassing.

Personally I stay away from disposable blades. Always fuck up my face so no way I am using them on my head. I prefer the gillette fusion but will use the mach 3 at times. Yes they are more $$ but I can get up to 7-10 days per cartridge. That is shaving my face daily and the head every other day.

I did buy one for like 9 bucks once and it broke after a month... spend the $30 for the conair.

Mach 3 have always been garbage blades for me, and are frequently counterfeited. The Schick Xtreme-3 have always been very consistent in their sharpness, and I often get 8-10 head shaves out of them, more if I do that technique of stropping them on denim before and after shaving.

Re: bald head chrome dome maintenance knowledges
1. Gillette double bladed disposable razor with a lubricated sliding strip. (triples don't shave my head well for some reason)
2. Get into shower. Towards the end of the shower when hair/skin is moist proceed to step three.
3. Apply any soap nearby to head.
4. Shave head. Feel around with free hand to find if you've missed a spot.
5. Rinse head.
6. Repeat at least twice weekly. The longer the hair gets, the harder it is to shave it
Bonus. Follow Shaf's directions in another thread to strop the razor on a pair of jeans to make the blade last for a long time.
I get a nick once or twice per year.

Shaving your head makes you look like a Europerv, so you want to look like that all the time-- am I understanding that correctly?seeahill wrote:Had the barber shave my head. Another vote for horse clippers if I've let it get a bit too long. I use 'em for trimming the hairy malamute's pantaloons, figure if they're good enough for my dog's ass, they're good enough for my head.
Gillette Mach Fusion FuckForce Five afterwards, along with their shaving gel, to get that gleaming freshly waxed look.

Shaf. Thanks. As always incredible detail.

Your options are sounding rather limited here.seeahill wrote:Because otherwise, the way my remaining hair frizzes up, I look like Bozo the Clown.Turdacious wrote:

You could always clip to a zero length all over as well - probably much easier than the regular shaving and with less gear as well. Invest in decent hats and some good sunscreen.

1. Razors - Schick Xtreme-3
2. Lubricants - Shave Secret Shave Oil
3. Touchy Taint areas - It's not touchy, lather that shit up with Men's Dove.
4. First Aid - Don't have many issues, but do have a styptic pen for the occasional nick...which almost never occurs.

Re: bald head chrome dome maintenance knowledges
I've gone the complete, sahved bald look before and didn't like it. I do what others here do - bought Wahl clippers for $40 and shave my head without attachment twice per week. Keeps it very close, can be done in 5 minutes and no need to shower before/after if you're in a rush.

Re: bald head chrome dome maintenance knowledges
Thanks all, even you Turd.
I did it the Shaf/Dr. Donkey way and it worked just fine. I also got a good electric wet/dry razor that works almost as well, is easy for touch up and doesn't seem to irritate my skin.
Sunday, the temps are rising to 62. I'll take a walk w/o a hat and have a shiny red chrome dome come Monday.
edit: the blade works best, by far.
