Decent gyms in or near Monterey, CA?

Post by Spider Monkey »

I have a client who is moving to Monterey this summer to attend Army language school and will need to find a decent gym there. She is a pretty decent lifter.

Personally, I find J. Tyspkin to be a revolting intertoobz personality but he has some loyal and happy lifters at his gym, Crossfit Monterey.

There is a decent Strongman crew out of the Santa Cruz area as well. Kalle Beck is one of them, he's easy to find at http://kallebeckstrength.blogspot.com/

This particular client would not be amenable to much crossfit tomfoolery. Is there anyone with a garage, or better yet, a barn, in Monterey?
We will look at kallebeck. Thanks BD!

I used to know some good folks down there. I still might. I'll do a little looking and see if anyone's out there lifting and not dicking around with the crossfit stuff.

Tyspkin's online persona makes me want to punch my computer screen.

I know Jacob personally... I have sent a good friend of mine from Cleveland to go to his gym when he is stationed in that area for work. He hates @fit probably more than we do and he loved the place.

Kalle trains out of there as well as top notch Oly Lifters. Ignore the @fit hype from the others posting here who don't know Tsypkin personally... its a hell of a place to lift. If you don't believe me, try it for yourself and get back to me.

His gym may indeed be great and it's not just @fit hype that anyone objects to It's his utterly retarded persona as a member of the Juggalo Circle Jerk.

As close personal friend, you should tell him that he comes across as a total douche.

Of all the juggernaut crew he is the least self-promoting of them all... I think you are a little off base here with that one, but you have the right to your opinion.

Again.I recommended his gym in Monterey because there are a lot of happy people there but so far, you're the only one on the thread who recognizes the guy has any decent qualities whatsoever. There is clearly a major disconnect between what he writes for Elite (or whomever) and how he is as a person. Frankly, the first thing I read from him I just assumed he was the same guy as the Rudy shitbird from Outlaw CF.

I would love to read what he wrote that compares him to that fraudulent sack of shit, Rudy....

Being that we met, hung out, talk on the phone often and I knew him when he started that gym gives my opinion of him a shitload more weight than anyone in this thread.

One of Jacob's gym attendees caught this thread and he took this pic and sent to me... and of course since I am king asshole, I post it...

If you can't laugh with this, you have no soul.

The guy that stole a haircut from a fictional character is Kalle, the hobbit is Jacob.

Meh

Good for him. He should sign up. Maybe he won't be near as much of a sensitive soul as Broz, C&P, or Adam T Glass were.

Soul?

You lost me there...

C&P is a a legit strong fucking guy, Glass is as well with grip, I don't know much about Broz because I don't really get into Oly lifting... C&P is a bit off in his rhetoric and Glass is part of the fitness marketing 101 crowd, but the hobbit doesn't really do that...

he just does seminars for Juggernaut occasionally and taught a lifter everything she knows who you will probably see at the Olympics one day

IGx is the dirty skank you text when drunk, begging her to let you come over...you don't care that her mouth tastes like some other men's semen.

Tsypkin is good folk. We traded a little hate in the early days, but he does a good job. Part of running a successful @F gym is building community and encouraging your people, all of which requires a campy social media presence. I'm borderline antisocial, which is why I'm here, so I'd be terrible at it. I give him points for being a chubby @Fer. And Russian.

Then I wish him any success with his community that will allow him to move past the campyness and douchnozzlery.

Her mouth can taste like whatever she wants as long as my dick, and not my tongue, is in it.

I don't know, man. I think any scenario where you get semen on any part of you, especially your dick, is not a good thing.

You guys are great!

She might do ok at Monterey. At least it looks like they have a sense of humor, and maybe some actual coaching skills there. She is 21, and I think, fairly gifted for strength sports.
