We truly live in America's golden age of beer.

I might have consumed a little bit of this after my friend lost an election last night.

Yamakazi.
Named best whisky in the world. A Japanese Scotch.
(I'm drinking the $80 12 year old, not the Sherry Cask $160 winner).

OK. Not bad. It grows on you. Not at all peaty. But "spicy" in a way my limited taste vocabulary can't handle. I like it, but this is probably my last bottle of the stuff.

I've tried their Rye. Our local liquor store has a huge whiskey section and they get barrels set aside for them at a lot of distilleries to fill bottles of single barrel just for them. The single barrel rye was the spiciest I've ever had. Perfect winter drink.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

Got these as Christmas gifts. The gin is great but man that fucking Lagavulin is not cool. This stuff is the pinnacle of peaty. Imagine and alcohol based liquid smoke poured over pecan charcoal filtered through your mom's panties after a weekend get-away with the Oakland Raiders. I never thought I'd say there's some shit I couldn't drink but this is it. It took two pours but I'm adamant this is very difficult booze to consume. Now I'm still gonna drink it but I'm not gonna like it.

Lagavulin was my intro to Scotch....it was also my exit interview for many years after.

Lagavulin - Like drinking from a bottle of iodine. No thank you.

So I get it, it's very good. But maybe like Angel's Envy better. And AE is cheaper.

I had a nightcap with a client who ordered that. I'm ignorant of scotches but he was a fancy pants guy so I figured that if it was good enough for him I'd give it a go. You've described it very well. Never again.

Brought a new bottle to a small party and let people sample it.
They drank almost all of it and everyone raved about it.
I think it's pretty good but nowhere near as good as they were saying.
Very light and lacking that maple flavor for a bourbon.
More expensive than Angel's Envy but not nearly as good.

Picked some of this up the other night. The Goose makes some good beers. Likey.

How is that Shiner farmhouse? I'm a huge fan of Shiner Bock for everyday drinking.

What do bourbon drinkers think of Maker's Mark? I am slowly trying different bourbons and fine this one by far the easiest drinking one I have had.

It's pretty good. If you haven't tried the Evan Williams Single Barrel, try it-- a bit more bite than Makers but still smooth.

agree with both of Turd's comments. Maker's 46 is actually much better imo, but probably not worth the price. Buffalo Trace is my go to as it is inexpensive yet excellent.

That's the truth about Buffalo Trace.

Sorry Fuzzy I fell asleep. 2 Guinness and 1 farmhouse and I was D Runk.

It's a good beer especially for Shiner. They have some pretty good seasonals. But gawddamn that Ruby Redbird gives me reflux like a motherfucker.

Maker's is good stuff.
I'd suggest trying some other wheated bourbons or even Bernheim's wheat whiskey (more wheat than corn in the mash bill so its technically not bourbon).

Buff trace distillery makes a few decent wheated bourbons under some lesser known brands.

Peasants are those who don't like Lagavulin! A matter of taste, I guess, but it is worthwhile to persevere: the taste grows on you with a bit of time.

And I have a present for Valentine's Day (go figure):
