Oh, Bullshit!! Chomski defended the Khmer Rouge in the 1980s from accusations because "It justified US policy". Chomsky supports gun control. No self respecting Anarchist would give any support to a coercive socialist group like the KR, not after what Marxists did to Anarchists around the world. Anarchists sure as fuck wouldn't support allowing governments to disarm individuals.

Once again, what do we get from Israel?

Canada did not send troops to S.E. Asia to fight but the Australians did.

MI6 was involved but British troops were not but I have heard stories that they were willing to loan us Gurkha regiments if the Paris Peace talks broke down.

But you have touched on one of my 3 bitches with Isreal.

We stabbed the Brits in the back in the 40s and that was fucking wrong.

But we brought this bitch to the dance so if a raghead bitch steps to her, hand her your knife so she can gut that Jawa bitch.

Discussion finished. Social media is involved and people are posting pictures on Instagram requesting peace so I imagine that things will be fine in a day or four.

The Canucks did help, if only to a small degree - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_and_the_Vietnam_War

The Brits? WW1 and WW2, plus Korea, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq. Yeas we did save their asses a few times, but they at least put their bacon on the line to help us.

As far as Israel is concerned; If the bitch you brought to the dance is an ugly and demanding cunt, who causes you nothing but problems, I think you're well within your rights to cut her loose.

Remember that the craziness about our being tied at the waist with them is a relatively new phenomenon. One largely promulgated by Fundie Xtians and Israelis posing as American citizens.

I return to my simple question; what have they done for us? If I hear the bullshit about them being the "only" democratic country in the region, I'll puke. They want to be a racially and religiously homogeneous state. Not very democratic.

However, even if the argument that they are the only democracy is accepted, then why does that obligate us to be their "allies"?

I challenge HH and his fellow fifth columnists to give me a few concrete examples of why Israel is such a good "friend". I have more than a few examples to the contrary.

Joe McCarthy Cleaner,

Here are things that Israel does, and that no one else in the Middle East does, for America:

Israel is part of the West, and joins in a belief in democracy, civil rights, capitalism, and free trade. That is the long-term best strategy for a sane world.

While it's hard to know exactly what goes on, the American and Israeli intelligence networks appear to be fully supportive of each other, and Israel appears to provide extraordinarily valuable intelligence to America. The latest Gaza fighting shows how extensive and accurate Israeli intelligence is.

My understanding is that many American special forces train in Israel, with Israeli instructors, on Middle East urban combat tactics.

America conducts joint maneuvers with Israel to prepare for contingencies.

Israel shares developments in weaponry with America. The Iron Dome performance, for example, will provide invaluable data in further developing defensive weaponry and in furthering strategy.

Israel's nuclear capability imposes a certain limit to jihadi craziness that would otherwise threaten worldwide recession.

Israel fights its own battles. It doesn't call on American troops.

If doomsday and total war come, Israel will be on our side and will be a good friend in a fight.

Last, your question begs a question. What do other allies do for America that Israel doesn't do?

And so we can avoid the discussion, I grant that Israel committed a grave error in the Liberty, and that Jonathan Pollard was an Israeli spy.

Agreed, and we should support republican forms of government (it's not democracy).
Except Israel is culturally at odds with every country around it. That's not the fault of any one person or group. But if you are trying to promote republics in a certain region, propping up a country that is culturally different than all the rest, often at the expense of all the others, is not a good tactic. It just furthers the us vs. them mentality.

Well that's only logical when Israel is the #1 recipient of US foreign aid that they would spend it on military developments and that the US gets to use some of it. That's true of all our allies.

The US military trains extensively with the Egyptian military as well, and that's also logical because they are the #2 recipient of US foreign aid.
IMO, if you want intelligence about and military training in a certain culture, you'd best train with--I dunno-- a country in that culture. Egypt is the cultural leader of the region, has a massive population, has plenty of land to train on, defends key borders and waterways, and has the potential to be a real example to the rest of the region.

Most of them tend to stay out of trouble. It's the best thing an ally can do.

Really? You have prophetic abilities? This selflessness would also seem to fly in the face of Israel's past malfeasance and their current espionage efforts in the US.

Israel has always been a strong ally of the US, no matter how you feel about them.

The US could give a crap what happens in Gaza and are making that clear with Clinton's visit.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in the region, where she was scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy, who is working to broker a cease-fire.
"President Obama asked me to come to Israel with a very clear message. American's commitment to Israel's security is rock solid and unwavering." she said.

No fair.

Tons of differences here.

Every citizen killed by drone attacks is officially classified as a "bad guy" by the White House. Thus, no innocents are ever killed, even the kids and old people.

Furthermore, Obama orders the assassinations to take place from inside their own borders so what he said is technically true.

Besides, GWB ordered 9 drone attacks during his tenure so this can be blamed on him. Somehow.
