Someone pointing a gun at you?

Ok, gun nuts. This would be like beatdown territory for me. Am I being a sensitive snowflake?
Still, Hannity's version of entertainment can go too far. Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with liberal contributor Juan Williams, Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams, according to three sources with knowledge of the incident. He even turned on the laser sight, causing a red dot to bob around on Williams' body. (Hannity was just showing off, the sources said, but the unforeseen off-camera antic clearly disturbed Williams and others on set.)...
"While discussing the issue of firearms, I showed my good friend Juan Williams my unloaded firearm in a professional and safe manner for educational purposes only," Hannity's statement read. "Every precautionary procedure that I have been trained in since the age of 11 was followed. I've had a conceal carry permit in five states for all of my adult life. Any other interpretation of this is outright false reporting."

A friend, in a very dumb moment, pointed a gun at me once when we were kids - I, and our friendship, survived it. Teenagers do dumb shit and (most) manage to live through it.
As an adult, however, there's no way I'd let that stand. He'd have a chair flying at his head. But, (as much as I hate Hannity and as weak as it sounds) if he were my gravy train maybe I'd be able to swallow my manhood and let it go.

Hannity and the author are describing very different events. Hannity's version sounds more credible. I've always gotten the sense that Williams is universally respected at Fox.
To be honest, I've been a fan of Williams for a long time (his books are generally fantastic IMHO). I respect Hannity for his lack of a gag reflex, but little else.

Thats not just for Sean. Its for anyone dumb enough to fuck around with a weapon near me. I know my own ability with a firearm not yours.

Would not be surprised if the acount as reported is somewhat "enhanced for drama", but let's say it's true. If so it's a major violation of basic safety. My experience is that gun guys who even briefly and accidently have an unloaded gun sweep across me (spend time in gun shops and it's bound to happen eventually) are immediately apologetic. It's not like this is an esoteric rule. That being said, it's showbiz gossip. You know that's trustworthy and impartial, and no one can possibly have an agenda...

Your conclusion is quite different from mine. OF COURSE the actual participants are going to deny anything untoward - it makes Hannity look like a gigantic dick at best and borderline criminal at worst and neither Hannity or his co-worker want that. I would probably feel differently if Williams or Hannity had completely denied that a gun had ever been pointed at a human being from the git-go, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Would be pretty standard to unload the gun 1st if he really was showing Williams something about the gun more involved than merely "I have a gun". Doesn't mean he carries it empty.

1. All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)
3. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule. Its violation is directly responsible for about 60 percent of inadvertent discharges.
4. Identify your target, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified
Cooper's Rules of gun safety.
Never let me down.
To answer the question - if someone points a firearm at you, let your conscience by your guide. You can keep the gun afterwards for all I care.

I don't think any reasonable person that knows anything about guns thinks he carries it empty.
