Harrelson's shit-eating grin did not require a lot of acting for that scene.johno wrote:Rocks.

Can't view this from where I am, but pretty sure this is the right vid:

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Re: True Detective
Already sung the praises of this show in the McConaughey thread
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=225821
but holy shit, you guys watch episode 3?
This show is becoming a serious mindfuck. McConaughey's ramblings in the box remind of a weird philosophy professor I had back in my school days.
I'm pretty excited for the throwdown in the jungle. If it's like everything else in the show, they will do it well, with a lot of gory realism and unexpected bad outcome. (which is tough to do for a gunfight...)
Anyone who's been waiting on this one, or still busy watching Korean revenge flicks on NetFlix, fire up the HBOGO or on demand. It'll be the best thing you've seen in a while.

I got in on this last week and watched the first three episodes backtobacktoback then watched the newest episode last night. Fantastic show. I love McConaughey and his character. This shit is really engrossing.

Re: True Detective
I lasted 20 minutes into the pilot episode and gave up during Matthew McConnaughey pseudo-philosophical soliloquy.
I figure I can google the chick with the hot body and call it a day.

Totally. This is McCounaughey being himself. It's perfect.
This has the makings of a being The Wire, Breaking Bad level good.

Those are the show's true gems, man. I don't even fucking care who the killer is, but McConnaughey's character is amazing.WildGorillaMan wrote:I lasted 20 minutes into the pilot episode and gave up during Matthew McConnaughey pseudo-philosophical soliloquy.
You ever seen a cycling plumber who wrestles with small calves, forearms and neck? Didn't think so.

Harrelson is being overlooked, because his character itself is not as flashy, but damn, he's selling it like a motherfucker...just as good as McConnoughy IMO.

He's doing some legit acting. Completely the equal to MccShirtless.

Another interesting episode. I love that I really have no clue as to the possible outcomes other than hoping that Matt McC. turns out to be one of the good guys.

Re: True Detective
We've got another crossover from Banshee. In addition to Lili Simmons, whose main purpose in any show seems to be getting naked or close to it, we have the psycho Amish teacher from Banshee who plays the psycho meth cook in TD.
