I hear a lot of folks disliked the first episode. Lots of shit happened. I don't buy that the girls are dead, despite Clara leaving the show soon. Digging how they just jumped right in with this season.
The wife isn't digging Capaldi as the Doc. I think that while there has been a sense of "other" about his last few incarnations, Capaldi seems to have it in spades. To me, this incarnation we get a sense for just how old and how different he is, where as with the other ones it came through in glimpses when he got pissed.
