I can't say much since my state is proud of the fact that no districts went to Obama.

I bet any one of the boroughs in NYC pays more to the federal government in taxes than the entire state of Kansas.
Would you rather learn from Steve or Rif? Plus how many RKCs actually live in their cars and bathe in streams and shit?

Secrets and Lies of the Bailout
The Scam Wall Street Learned From The Mafia

I bet lower Manhattan alone steals more taxpayer money than the entire state of Kansas produces.

Both are long articles by Matt Taibbi of the Rolling Stone. Complex for my little brain but if he's got it even half right, it's an abomination and all involved are absolute scum. The first article also shows why the Wall Street supports Obama so enthusiastically. He's good for business. Bush was too of coarse = BushBama.

They shouldn't have done this, Joe, I agree. Just the same, Tip O'Neill understood these things...

Gene, I agree.

However, the fact that every tornado, drought, farm and hurricane relief bill for the red states seems to fly unerringly through the congress makes the current situation particularly galling.

My numbers may be off, but Katrina cost the affected 35,000 businesses. Sandy cost NY 180,000 businesses and NJ about 135,000.To hear how pro-business the Southern Regional Party claims to be rings hollow.

The Kansas Repugs in the OP's start of this thread likely don't have a problem with all gov't waste. Robert Samuelson on farm subsidies in Wash Post
Symbolic of the debate we're not having about government's size and role -- the essence of the deficit problem -- is the future of farm subsidies. Running $10 billion to $15 billion annually, they don't do much good. For starters, they haven't saved small farms. Since the 1930s, when subsidies began, the number of farms is down 70 percent. Nor do farmers need subsidies to stay profitable. Farmers' income for 2011 and 2012 ($135 billion and $133 billion, respectively) were the highest and second-highest ever and would have been without subsidies.
Government needs reappraisal. Programs shouldn't be immortal in the face of changing economic and social conditions. What's no longer justified should be discarded. Unfortunately, President Obama has evaded and discouraged this discipline. Republicans emphasize spending control but are often hypocritical on specifics.
