Baltimore the weekend before Halloween

Post by dingleberry »

Somebody on here lives there.

I'm running in Darlington for the Zombie Run on the 27th and spending the night in Baltimore; so what shouldn't I miss. We will be staying close to the Inner Harbor and if possible I'd like to walk. I know about Fell's Point, just seeing if I might be missing out on something.

Thanks.

Catch a Ravens game if they're in town. Catch a game at Camden if the O's are still in the playoffs (take a ballpark tour if they're not-- Camden Yards is the best ballpark in baseball under 90 years old and a must see if you're any kind of baseball fan). Eat some crabs. Take Baltimore's reputation seriously.

Even if the O's are done, you can go to Dempsey's, it's in the warehouse at the ballpark and is supposed to be open during the off-season, so you can still see some of the ballpark. The tour's not a bad idea. If you're into baseball at all, there's a sculpture area of the O's Hall of Famers they've made a big deal of unveiling over the course of the year that I think is to be open to the public after the season. Between Camden and the Babe Ruth Hall of Fame a few blocks away is a big statue of Brooks Robinson. There's also a Sports Museum next to the ballpark, but I haven't been.

Literally one of the best beer bars in the world is in Fells Point, assuming you venture beyond Bud Light.

The Harbor East area is cool, it's between the Inner Harbor and Fells.

Federal Hill is the neighborhood next to the Inner Harbor.

In Federal Hill, The Market's a favorite for people watching. Lots of young hotties in Federal Hill.

LOTS of bars around there too.

Little Italy's the other way from the Harbor, about any where's good but prices can vary significantly from you could eat well for $20-25/person.

If you're a history buff, Fort McHenry's a 5-10 min drive from the Inner Harbor. Can learn about the war of 1812 and the star spangled banner.

Turd's right about the rep but stay where I've listed and don't do anything stupid and you should be good.

One of my companions has found something called the Glow Ball on Eastern Ave for something called the Creative Alliance at Patterson. It is supposed to be costume party for adults after a parade. How's the area around there, safe for visitors or should it be avoided?

I know the area, it's not bad, but stick to Eastern Ave around the Patterson Theater (where CA's at) and points south towards Canton. The parade is probably the lantern parade in Patterson Park as I think CA does it. Go maybe 5 blocks north there though and things get shady quick. Like The Wire shady.

Visit the McCormick Spice - World of Flavors in Harborplace. Just stand there and inhale. Lots of sampling going on too.

Supposedly, for a couple of hundred you can spend 30 minutes rolling around in a huge vat of old bay seasoning with some nekkid women. Good for the skin.
Don’t believe everything you think.
