Baseball post: A look at quality of contact profiles

Post by bennyonesix »

So, the authority with which one hits the baseball has little to do with Batting Average on Balls In Play (BABIP).

A really surprising finding given that for years it has been assumed that the key to getting better results than average on struck balls was the authority with which said balls were struck.

It also has sig possibilities for determining the length and depth of batting slumps.

PS The article also re-proves the fact that there is very very very little actual difference between an average and elite hitter... Maybe one or two more well struck balls a week.
