Donald Trump on SNL

Post by DrDonkeyLove »

Holy fuck, I forgot how boring SNL can be. Cutting my nails yesterday morning was fascinating by comparison.

Dialing the show around a guest who's not deliberately funny but has creative control is not a great recipe for success.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

When he boosts ratings this much, it's safe to say they don't know the recipe for success.

They've had a 40 year run. They're by far the biggest draw for comedy talent. The format has some disadvantages compared to what Key & Peele, Chappelle, etc. have been able to do, and competition from cable at that time slot has blown up, but I don't see how you could improve on it short of turning the format on its head.

Yet they put on a lackluster show the week they had their biggest draw in years as a guest host.

Tuning in to watch a train wreck doesn't mean one necessarily liked the show or the guest.
