The problem and solution is simple...if we had pulled this at my school we'd have MAYBE been given the choice of three licks with the paddle, or three days off (which means my parents find out, and my dad beats my ass with a belt and my mom grounds me for a month).

Simple problems require simple solutions, but we've trained ourselves to believe that everyone is special and fragile and needs to be left alone to their own randomly aquired cultural devices and everything will wash out in the new era of total self-absorption, absentee parenting, and zero accountability.
