We had our first local friend get put on a ventilator Friday which was jarring, since he's mid-40s.
There are unexpected issues like child care that folks with young kids need to plan for. This guy has two young kids, his wife will almost certainly get sick over the next few days, they can't have grandparents help, and other parents may be reluctant to do more than drop off food outside. Anybody will be less likely to help once able bodied people they know have died.
Face masks are pretty decisively a good idea at this point and you should be wearing one when out in public. CDC will likely change guidelines to this in the coming days and there's no reason to wait.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
Well wishes sent your friends' way Spells. Hope his case is mild and his wife's is either nonexistent or no symptoms.
When faces get put with this, it gets even more real.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.
Hope your friend heals fast. And in sad way, at least he's got it now while there are beds and ventilators available. Much better to be part of the first wave.
At least one person is benefiting from the skyrocketing hospitalization and death rate.

Seriously, I struggle to get my mind around how fucked up it is that he is bragging about ratings definitely propelled by the level of this crisis. No question that deaths are good for business. There is a mental problem going on here. Turd, go ahead and post another picture of that bald chick.

Where did the orange man touch you nafod?
Right here
I won't try to defend Donny's more barbaric tweets or comments. Nor will I get too deeply into the TDS faction of the press where his every action is pilloried as wrong and slathered in evil intent.
But, I'll try to put the shitty tweet into context. A coterie of the MSM has been loudly recommending that networks cease broadcasting the Corona virus task force updates that bring us Drs. Fauci & Birx, and many others who bring critical information to the American people in the pandemic response. Almost as important, Donny and other team members take tons of questions from the MSM. Yesterday's update was filled with important information and interaction with the press. Yet, certain "respected" members of the MSM want to deny (or at least limit) the people that access. Until yesterday those wannabe press censors had not been called to account.
So, his latest tasteless tweet was a broadside to that part of the press. His interaction with CNN reporters at yesterday's briefing made that clear.

Unless you're talking about different people, this is false. They're saying that Trump says so many things that are a danger to the public that it's impossible to fact check him in real time, so these briefings should not be broadcast live. They are not saying they should not be covered at all.
If Trump goes up there and tells lies and puts people at risk, there's no good reason to let him do that on your network. Show it an hour later with context and you're good to go.

How do networks keep Presidential lies off the air?
We are not about to send American boys 9 or 10 thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves.
LBJ on the campaign trail in 1964 knowing the Pentagon was drawing up plans to do just that.
If you like your health care plan you’ll be able to keep your health care plan.
BHO, and this wasn't a one time speech, this was something he repeated publicly dozens of times.
There will be no military invasion of Cuba.
JFK about a week before approving the Bay of Pigs invasion.
This isn't even close to an all inclusive list.

As soon as this first wave dies down, and N95 masks are available again, you can bet you'll see mask wearing during future influenza and covid19 waves.

Suggesting seniors wear those, and making them mandatory in elementary schools during flu season, would probably do wonders.

Am wondering what all our social distancing, frequent hand cleaning and such will affect deaths from the regular flu and other flu like respiratory illnesses. It's got to go down by hundreds, maybe thousands.

Auto shops are slowing way down.
We're a high end independent, so we haven't been totally laid off yet, but I hear dealerships are a ghost town.
Economic impact from this is going to make 2008 look like the good old days.

Overall my spending is way down. I haven't gone to the gas station in weeks. I'm not doing the whole take out thing.
When this is all said an done the only businesses left are going to be Amazon and Costco....
