GoPro Camera

Post by nafod »

My wife got one to take pictures of stuff that she is selling on eBay, which is exactly what it is definitely not meant to do. No screen on the back, pain in the ass to set the settings, wide angle view distorts everything, etc.

Which is all good for me, because I am going to hook that thing to my mountain bike, kayak, and ski helmet and shoot all kinds of cool videos. Thanks hon!

Anybody else have one? Comments?

Googling on my regular riding area and "GoPro", this is one of the trails I ride frequently. Not as fast as this guy, with his full kit and bike set up for DH.

I've been wanting one of these. I'm a fan of Mike Escamilla and he uses one all of the time.

How in the world did your wife think she should a gopro for pictures on ebay? Nice work on getting her to buy you one!

They have such a wide view that you will often have to tip it up further than you think you should to get the correct frame. It is difficult to get this right at first if you don't have one with a view screen. They are fun tools to mess around with especially with all the different mounting hardware. Which did she get...the one with the suction cup? Scuba? wrist attachment?

Have fun!

If Santorum had won, these sorts of enticements to perversion would be banned!

The GoPro Hero Naked. I guess the name confused her. It was on sale, was the main attraction. No attachments, I'm going to get one mount for the handlebars, and also the head thingie I should be able to wear over a bike or ski helmet. It came with a permanent helmet attachment, but I'm not that committed.

the feature i wish these things had is a laser site or some sort of tutorial for setting up the camera. Set up on a helmet like this guy, the focus point is way off the line and short of the view horizon so it looks both vertiginous and excessively fast.

An embedded laser pointer would actually be an awesome idea.

I have a Canon S90 with an underwater case that covers a lot of my adventure photography needs. Not completely sold on the particular need for this thing, which is why I didn't buy one myself.

I'm going to mount it on my kid's handlebars, looking back up at him/her. That should be a cool shot.

If you don't have a protective case I would get one. They work. My friend shot one with buckshot and the camera survived. Plus the case is water proof so it will save the camera if it rains or water splashes all over it.

The case is integral to the camera, pretty much. I don't think they even sell them separately.

Bought the headstraps and handlebar mounts last night. Next up is a memory card. Will be conducting HYPER-EXTREME MOVIE MAKING on Thanksgiving Day.

I'm going to try to strap it onto my dog somehow. Get lots of closeups of other dog's hind ends.
