Holy shit, Michigan's helmet law repealed today!

Post by Shafpocalypse Now »

After 35 years.

I was watching incredulously as I saw a fuck ton of bikers without their helmets riding around today, thought it was some kind of organized protest, but, nope, Snyder wrote it into law, tenatively citing greater tourism and hyped statistics.

They should sign a release that allows them not to wear a helmet in exchange for emergency crews not being responsible for sweeping up their brains off the side of the road. Bikers are a dumb fuckin' bunch. Rednecks and meth-lab-trash riding around on overgrown toys, measuring the size of their dicks by how loud their exhaust is. Bunch'a no-good hooligans.

I have a feeling that in a fatal accident, I won't give a fuck what the ditch doctors do / don't do. If my brains provide a roadside snack for the buzzards, all the better.

The problem I have with helmet laws: being regulated on a state-by-state basis is stupid. I can be legal in one state, sans brain bucket, then cross a state line and get ticketed.

I bought my first bike in 1987 from a guy who had just married an ER nurse. She was making him sell it, because it was too dangerous, and riders were just organ donors. This dude was thoroughly pussy-whipped and emasculated. I was able to easily talk his asking price way down, just raping him on the deal, and he was so used to getting fucked over by his wife that it was good for him, and made him happier.

Rode the bike, sans helmet, over to the DMZ, got my learner's permit. Hopped in line for a license, passed the written test and eye exam, and the clerk did not want to let me take the riding exam, because I only had the permit for 20 minutes. The CHP exam officer - a blonde Amazon goddess - overheard our discussion, came over, asked me if that was my GoldWing out front, and then told the clerk to schedule the exam for right now. Took the riding exam, got my endorsement, and got a date with the cop.

Every once in a while I think back and wonder if the original owner of that bike felt like he had a nice, safe life with his cunty ER nurse of a wife.

I despise all nanny state laws. That said, I'll not ride public roads without one. It's like a trigger lock, should not be a law. You're an idiot if you don't know how to logically secure your weapons.

The point with helmet laws (and other such laws, like mandatory seat belts) isn't to nanny you for your own good; it's to save on hassle for other people. Someone who wipes out without a helmet or seat belt is, in most cases, going to be a lot worse off than someone who is wearing them. That's more work for paramedics, more drama for cops, more of a hassle for citizens. All cuz you wanna be a badass and ride without your helmet. Why? So the people behind you can get a better view of your bald spot? Seriously, folks, try giving a shit about other people before you play Mr. Loner-Wannabe-Outlaw-Biker-Badass. Everyone sees through your bullshit anyway and knows you're just a dude with a small dick who rides around on toys cuz he doesn't have anything better going on in his white trash loser life.

It's not clear that helmetless motorcycle riders impose much more costs on others than those wearing a helmet. They die faster and make better organ donors.

Let's think this out, Kraj.... brain injuries aren't funny. Neither is indulging in illusions that a brain bucket is a suit of armor.

Arguing accident statistics would probably be more logical and I am surprised that insurance companies haven't tried coordinate with states to pin premium rates on people who want to refuse seatbelts, helmets, etc.

It's remarkable how tone deaf you are. In stark contrast to the ninja/fencing/astronaut fantasies of yours, I'm actually the son of an AMA Pro Road Racer and multi-time National Champion. While you were picking the scabs inflected by the bigger girls at day camp I was racing flattrack and enduro. For this reason, on the street or track, I always wear a helmet. Because I care about my fellow Americans, I defend absolutely their right to not wear one if they choose.

Defending the liberties of others regardless of you personal views is an American value a euro-turkish-wop like yourself could never comprehend. Admit you need Nurse Nancy to wipe your bum and tell you what to eat. A lot of your kind have domination fetishes, it's a rich vein conquering armies have mined in generations of you people.

A kid racing motorcycles is gayer than Richard Simmons holding a bag of dicks. Now I can see why you're so damn stupid -- breathing in all those exhaust fumes while you were a kid really fucked you over. Didn't help that you had shit genes to begin with either. That's two strikes against you already.

Motorcycles are for retards who are too broke to buy a car. You telling me you'd rather ride some shitty generic Goldwing than a finely crafted Italian supercar just goes to show you're ignorant and jealous. Save up your pennies, junior. Then maybe one day you can MAYBE afford to go down to the Lambo dealership and offer the dude a blowjob and some cash to let you sit in an Aventador and feel the leather stitching. Until then, keep being a jealous bitch and hating on what real men drive. You can have your little shitty v-twin toys.

As for my heritage that you keep bringing up, my people fought the Turks for half a millennium and finally came out the victors with their faith and culture intact. Your people have gone to shit in less than 50 years time and start rioting in the streets when wireless internet service goes down. Bunch of shook bitches who wouldn't last a week in real war.

Go tell someone else your fairy tales about how your old man rode bikes and fucked dudes in the team trailer afterward. Your pathetic shit doesn't fly with me.

seat belts do not equal helmets. Seat belts are actually pretty darn effective, especially in a frontal collision. Helmets are not as protective by any means. Although they do a good job in moderate and lower speed accidents. There's simply no way to have protection on a motorcycle that's even vaguely similar to that of being belted into a decent car. That said, if I ever decided to ride a motorcycle again, it'd be with a helmet, gloves, boots, etc.

How about Air Bags, Steve? You've probably seen accident victims who had air bags or without air bags.

My optometrist told me that Air Bags are a leading cause of Retinal Detachment in the US. If this is true how does the risk of going blind balance out with reduction in injury?

Gene -
Worked at level 1 trauma centers for 11+ years. Lots of spontaneous retinal detachments from getting older and/or being really near sighted. Zero retinal detachments from airbags - both major and minor accidents. In terms of major injuries prevented by airbags, there is no question that severe torso trauma has greatly decreased in modern cars with the combo of seatbelts and airbags.

I don't drink alcohol. Clouds the mind. That's why I get ahead while others flounder behind in a stupor. I'm operating on a whole other level, like Bradley Cooper's character in Limitless.

No wounds to get at. My people are pure. They actually fought and died for what they believed in. They didn't go around fucking everything that moves and spitting out mutts like you.
