I'm not judging.

I own the series. And Serenity.

I think it has crashed, and sooner or later they will find it. I also think that the cause of the crash will be something bizarre, like a packet of chips forgotten by a service mechanic tripping the circuit that feeds the transponder, the radio and the compass. The configuration will turn out to be unique for this particular plane. Or the bleed air from the engines got contaminated with the fumes, pilots got confused, switched off the transponder and eventually went down. Something along the lines.

Jokes aside, this is scary shit. I fly locally once a week, work related, and am typing this sitting at the airport right now. I know that during the next few flights I will jump every time there is an unfamiliar noise, unusual turn or something else out of the ordinary, which happens pretty often.

Terrorists usually take credit for things like this.

The only reason they'd keep quiet is if they'd managed to 'steal' the plane and land it somewhere, planning to use it later somehow. That seems very far fetched. But Iranians were on board so, terror.

I concur. And just spent a few minutes looking for the DVDs.... think I actually bought the series on iTunes. Need to do some investigating. For academic reasons, of course.

Bummer about this plane flight.

Flew into Reagan National on Wednesday, and it was windy as hell. We had to hold for a while as planes were backed up on approach. I screwed up and didn't take a leak prior to them making everyone sit down and buckle up, so I was super-motivated to get on deck. We finally started our approach, and I could see a huge crosswind. Not too many miles out we made a huge hi-yaka manuever hard turn to the right, and I thought we were going missed approach. Then the pilot brought it back hard left, and I realized we were lining up on the little 4000' runway with our MD-88. Toss in a bunch of wing drops and wind shear, and it was a very sporty landing. People started cheering once we touched down, but I saw the "3" board go whipping by (3000' remaining) and thought maybe we should wait on the cheering and see how this plays out. Stopped with not a lot of runway remaining. Sportiest approach in an airliner by far.

This morning on the drive in, listening to the radio, I heard some comedian...

"...the pamphlet says 'in case of crash your seat cushion may be used as a flotation device.' Flotation device? Really? In case of a crash, I'm going to be using that thing as a toilet."

Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.

I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.

I hope that it wasn't the guys with the stolen passports or the TSA will use the news to actually probe your ass every time you fly out of any airport.

Not as sexy as Terrorist or Criminals but kind of rational and a Marine pilot is where I got the link and he's quick to jump on Jawas, having fought them a good deal of his life since 91.

I'd like to hear NAFOD's or PL54's opinion of this theory?

It's been pointed out that theory ignores contradictory data.

The Malaysian tracking radar and satellite pings sent by engines don't support this theory. Maybe those were lefty media satellite pings.
