Without getting up and rifleing through my shelves and what not. in no certian order, Military History and Historical and Military Sci Fi.

About Face by Col. David Hackworth - Why no one made a movie of this is beyoned me. STEEL MY SOLDIER'S HEARTS is very good as well.

Wellington: Years of the Sword by Elizabeth Longford

Wellington as Military Commander by Jac Waller

Scipio Africanus A Greater than Napolion by Leddel-Hart

The Face of Battle, Mask of Command, The Price of Admiralty, Fields of Battle: The Wars for North America, History of Warfare by John Keegan

Killer Angels Micheal Shaara

Casear's Legion- A History of the Legion and Nero's Killing Machine - Evan Dandoo- Collins.

Anything from Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe's novels, My top picks there are Sharpe's Rifles, Sharpe's Sword, Sharpe's Tiger, Sharpe's Trafalger and Sharpe's Waterloo. His Saxon novels are real fucking good as is his Nathaneil Starbuck Cival war books.
If your a man I can not see how you can't get into Cornwell. I have read every commercially available Sharpe's books and I turned my father, who is not very militaristic (it's my step who went to S.E.Asia) and he ended up reading allmost all of the Sharpe's books, 3 of the Starbuck's and is now reading of Uhtred and the Saxon tales. His Azincourt and Rebel are also very good.

Casear: Life of a Colossus, The Punic Wars and The Complete Roman Army by Dr. Adrian Goldsworthy- My fave Roman schoolar. I tell people to skip Gibbons and go right to Goldsworthy. I hope to find his newer book on Antony and Cleopatra used.

The Raid- About the raid on Son Tay, special place in my heart as my step dad flew and recieved a unit citation for being in 1 of the 2 EC-121 CE's that did ELINT and false chatter for the raid.

Soldat- About a german officer who was there at the last defense of Berlin.

Codename Copperhead- ABout one of the early SF hardasses, SOG and the first man to jump from a plane with a nuke.

Charlei Company what the War did to Us.

Charlei's Ranger's LRRPS in Vietnam

A History of the US Army Ranger- From Rodger's to Mosby to Point Du Hoc, Korea, the LRRps and Bat's beloved 75th Inf.

We Were Soldiers Once and Young- Good movie BETTER BOOK! the movie only does the first part of the battle. You will read of Rick Persacola distinguishing himself years before he dies a hero at the WTC on 9-11-01.

Marine Sniper;93 Confirmed Kills

Shadow Warriers

The Company They Keep- This is a book written by a female Antrhopologist form that angle about a SF ODA.

Delta Force by Col. Charles Beckwith

He Who Dares (in the US) Soldier I: SAS (In the UK) about a Mirbet, Falklands and Princess Gate SAS vet.

Real Heros of the SAS

Immeidiate Action and Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNabb

Reluctant Warrior

The Fool Lt.

D-Day

1776

George Washington's War

WAR by Gwayne Dyer- I watched the PBS series as a kid and read the book as a teen (Got an A on a report for it)and agian a few years ago. For you assholes havign fun with me talking about Total War you need to STFU and read this book.

Coccherine the Real Master and Commander by the guy who wrote Under the Black Flag, great book.

Virtues of War (About ALexander the Great) and Gates of Fire (About Themopolae) by Stephen Pressfield
Fuck 300, that stupid little cartoon is why Gates of Fire did not make it on film and it's a shame because then some of these D-Bags running around playing Gerard Butler would at least have a better concept of the battle, the Spartans and the kind of man Leonidas must have been. The film valued video game concepts, Gates of Fire brings home teamwork,, fighting for the man at your side. It teaches you that the opposite of fear is love. Lovew for you nation, your family and the people you fight with can overcome your fears. It's fiction but Pressfield was a Marine and say's it greatly influenced this book.

STARSHIP TROOPERS by Robert A Heinline. This is how goverment should be.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, also by Heinline

The Operators- About a Unit id' as both 14th RTU and or 14th Int. A Brit unit that did alot of the stuff in Northern Ireland the SAS get's credit for. Jim Tirey said he has worked with them and they were impressive. It's a mixed unit of SAS, PARA and Intel types who operate in plain clothes. Yes, like Delta is our SAS we do have our own 14th Int but good luck finding much on them if anything.

I'll stop there.
