Shameless plug: I will be teaching a workshop, Santa Fe May 14-19
It is run like a graduate school workshop. It is about travel writing and you don't need any experience but you do need a manuscript of no more than 2000 words.

I'm working on a "manuscript" right now, about Nazi UFO's and fly fishing (I'm not joking). Would that work?

I'd love to go, but I don't like venturing that far from home.seeahill wrote:It is run like a graduate school workshop. It is about travel writing and you don't need any experience but you do need a manuscript of no more than 2000 words.

Probably not. It's supposed to be non-fiction travel writing. But, hey, if it's non-fiction, we can stretch the definition of travel writing for you.Kenny X wrote:I'm working on a "manuscript" right now, about Nazi UFO's and fly fishing (I'm not joking). Would that work?

If I wasn't about to be blessed with two lovey babies soon, I'd write a non-fiction travel manuscript and be there post-haste!seeahill wrote:Probably not. You'll grok this. I had to re-type that a few times because I didn't want to sound like "that" guy. You know the guy I'm talking about. The guy who can't do anything because he has kids, and is bitter about it, even though he wouldn't amount to much if he did it anyway. Know what I mean? I don't want to sound like that guy. I'm not that guy.seeahill wrote:I think you have your priorities straight on this one.Kenny X wrote:If I wasn't about to be blessed with two lovey babies soon, I'd write a non-fiction travel manuscript and be there post-haste!seeahill wrote:Probably not. Don't get me wrong, I want to keep writing my stories. And I want to get better at writing. But I want to be a good father more than that. The writing is where I go to decompress sometimes. Like therapy.
