I don't know what it is but watching this video makes me want to become a hipster barber.

Just gotta get my kid to let me practice on him. Otherwise my cat is gonna look pretty silly sporting a high fade pompadour...

Another one that just hit me: simple lawncare. The kid I've had cut the grass for over 10 years now showed up on an Easter Sunday in an IROC Z with a hottie to ink the deal as he was intrepid and just getting started....he later married said hottie and has two kids with her. Anyhow, he started with nothing and now has 3 swank trucks with big trailers with all the fancy lawncare equipment, and a crew of guys, not to mention his retired father, who does some lawn fertilization stuff. But he started with a lawnmower and a weed eater.

Just write a few articles and sell them to the New Yorker or someone like that. Easy money.

Don’t believe everything you think.

One of my brother's friends from HS did this. At 24 he had a crew doing all the work. He had a Porsche and a ton of hot girlfriends for being a short, ugly dude. The Venerable Bogatir X wrote:Another one that just hit me: simple lawncare. I opened my own clinic on the side, but there's so much overtime available at my day job, working it is slowing me down from building my own business.

Intrepid, motherfuckers. Be intrepid.

Along the lines of lawn care, some of the ideas on this show might work.

Also, when we lived in Atlanta knew.a guy with stump grinder and heard he made good money on the weekends taking stumps out for people. Guy in Baltimore has a pickup and makes extra cash hauling crap to the dump in the Yuppieville section I live in. When he feels like working, puts it out a couple neighborhood Facebook pages and he's good to go.

I switched employers over a year ago now. This job has me working from home, where I drove 25 miles to Southfield one way before. Life got so much easier. Not only did I get about a 10% bump in pay, but I'm putting 1/3 the miles on my car. Gas/time/car savings are awesome as well. The Venerable Bogatir X wrote:The recruiter in me is compelled to throw out a different perspective: remote work. I have had the very good fortune to work remote pretty much exclusively, for years now. The cost savings of dialing trips into the office are dramatic. I realize not everyone can pull this off for all roles, but it's out there.
OTOH, if the side gig is small enough, and/or you can grow it slowly (as you'll need to grow into it as you maintain what you do for real work), then it's probably a good option too. Stating the obvious, I know.
For a side gig, now that I have a little more time, I've done a few more martial arts lessons then in the past.
