In Texas, municipal revenues come from two main sources: property taxes and sales tax. The struggle is to get the balance right. Obviously developed property generates more revenue than undeveloped property so my main focus is to act as an advocate for property owners/developers and help them though the byzantine political/regulatory process. I'm just one small cog in the machine. Equal parts luck/opportunity and partly by attitude/design. I'd much rather be a fashion designer by day and cage fighter at night but that time has past.
You should be getting kick backs from developers to get their shit through the maze and done. Can't you take them camping or something?

Do you guys tax whores? Cuz there's probably a lot of money in taxing whores. I bet. Charge them a property tax for the street corner too.

You only tax what you don't want.

Andy I'm sorry my civil war veteran friend but we actually have a "pimp" tax down here. It's both qualitative and quantitative. You're taxed on how many you're running and how fine they are. I have a checklist.

Well I'm good about keeping my books straight here in MIchigan and paying my fair share. It's a simple police matter and we're all good friends.

I really don't get what they got for $60m-- for an 18000k seat stadium with bleacher seats.

For perspective, all three of these top level baseball stadiums in NC, each with primarily stadium seats, cost less:
Greensboro
Durham
Winston-Salem

Bonds are generally billed (paid for) through property tax bills. In my Northern California property tax bill I have 10-12 different bond assessments: libraries, mosquito control, flood control, etc.

In other words, everyone gets to vote on the tax, but only people that have a property tax bill have to pay it.

Reason #812 that the right to vote should be restricted to property owners. And people with at least a bachelor's degree or the proven ability to understand taxes and debt.

You're in NorCal, you have other problems. And your ideas would exclude bureaucrats, elected officials, and developers from voting (not the worst idea in the world)

In some small town somewhere (I think it was Fort McLeod, but who knows) I saw a nice looking house whose garage door had the ICP's Killer Klown logo pained five feet tall on it.

Proof right there that a) at least some Juggalos earn more than minimum wage, and b) not all property owners should be allowed to vote.

Saw it on a mobile and too lazy to find it again but I read another article about this today that was a bit more balanced - said that there were practice facilities for golf and tennis (?) and that it has a theater inside. They were honest about saying they never planned to recoup the expenses and simply wanted something for the community - said that academic in the school were solid.
