How many Keynesians does it take to replace a lightbulb? 2, 1 to screw it in and another to have broken it in the 1st place.
Glassman has a lot of freedom to be imprecise with his rhetoric.
DD marketing is constantly being criticized. Fair enough. But look at this:
Here is another Glassman quote:

I'd be pleased as punch to wear the Rhabdo shirt at any funeral that didn't happen because this new awarenes prevented it.

Also, anybody ever thought of making crossfit-type wallpapers ? I think it would be great to spark some interest at work .(what's that clown doing ?)

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
Got it. This will be recognized as the huge problem that it clearly is.szczepan wrote:DD affiliates(of which I am one) do have the option of using tiered marketing(which I do not). The grapevine tells me that Jeff Martone has accepted an invitation to a future CF cert.

In light of brother rhabdo's introduction to the crossfit scene, anyone got any good suggestions for introducing some moms to crossfit? I'm teaching some things at a commercial facility and trying to break the mold, expecting that it will take a little while for them to make the switch in their thinking and their concept of "fitness". I don't expect them to be elite right off the bat and expect to do a lot of teaching, but I also dont want to dumb thngs down so much that it doesn't resemble crossfit anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will also post to messae board. Thx.

CF crowd -- I wouldn't usually post, I'm realtively new to CF and my time seemed sort of abysmal today anyway.
The rhabdo topic can't be ignored, though. As a critical care MD and prior military, I have treated quite a bit of rhabdo. I haven't read the emedicine site, but I will tell you that SERIOUS rhabdo is commonly incited by exercise, particularly with associated heat stress. The 6% figure may take all comers, but rhabdo serious enough to put you in the ICU is usually due to overexertion +/- heat stress, drugs or toxins, or trauma such as a crush or pressure injury. Some studies say eccentric stress with an exertional stretch like running downhill (to the quads) or reversing a kettlebell at the bottom of the motion (to the lower back) seems particularly apt to produce this injury.
I personally DONT feel the recent article in the journal or coach's words are reactionary. Even if not lethal (and death IS uncommon with exertional rhabdo if medical attention is sought), who wants the time out of training, the lost work or the bills of this kind of injury? Rhabdo is one of the answers to the "what could happen" question asked by the uninitiated.
CF trains smart -- I say stay smart. . .
then suck it up and do the last set!
;)
PS Pukie is cool. . .

For the record... I train hard but do so in the 3 up 1 back format. I also believe that CF is a very good program IN FACT SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS DO CF. My problem is with the unneccessary BLATANT LYING ABOUT RESULTS, THE ONE TRUE WAY ATTITITUDE, AND THE HYPOCRISY OF CF'S FEARLESS(AND APPARENTLY GUTLESS) LEADER.

“In the past few weeks, trainees at several other CF gyms have had serious cases of rhabdomyolysis, or, as we affectionately call it, Uncle Rhabdo. Rhabdomyolysis is basically caused when very large numbers of muscle cells break down, releasing their contents into the blood stream and overwhelming the liver, which temporarily shuts down.â€

You, of all people, must appreciate the mushroom cloud that has erupted over this. Veils have been dropped, frauds exposed, apologists embarrassed, and Jack Reape is "incredibly weak."Renegade Doughboy wrote:The Renegade has pointed out all along that Cross Fit is stupid and its adherents like cult memebers. Or course I was accused of just stirring shit, which I was, but it was based on a real opinion on the matter.

Ross Enamit's stuff is oriented towards the Ultra-GPP inclined and is scalable to the trainee. Furthermore, he is not an asshole or a cultist. In fact, he is very responsive over email and seems to be all around good guy.
In the past, whenever one of my buddies was telling me about this cool Matt Furey faux-kombat shit they were psyched about, I would always tell them to borrow my Enamiat boook instead. Now when they tell me about how they just heard that XFit is badass, I'll lend them the same book. Fuck those psychos.
