FC, OK.
The DuCane explanation implied that Spetznaz units awarded MS "in-house." If he was awarded an MS from his military unit, I wouldn't call him a liar.
But others might, and do.

The fact is, he knows his shit, wich is what Troy and I pointed out.
His association with JDC will be his down fall.

And he never said where he got his MS, if it was in Spetznaz, then fuck a civillian association's claim, as the Military was everything in the USSR.

God, I aint trying to defend Paval here, but right is right, we have all used stuff from him that have made a difference and hois books are chalk full of credit towards others.

It's him thinking he could boss around others like he was a Soviet General and his association with JDC, mong other things that had me on the outs.

Nate, Mike and myself severed ties way before this whole blow up, when it counted.

That only makes sense on the surface, IMHO, if you never have read about how sports were organized in the USSR.

The Soviet Union did everything by central command; that includes all sport which was controlled by the USSR State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports. It was organs of this committee that awarded this official sport ranking "Master of Sport" which is the second highest classification and had real social and economic meanings. So Pavel Du Cane's explanation that it was an "in house" kind of thing is about as meaningful as an "in house" doctorate of medicine. You better not hang a shingle.

Now, assume that I'm wrong and Pavel is telling the truth. He's still guilty by omission, because he hardly was volunteering this "in house" status for the first six years he was charging people thousands of dollars to learn how to use what amounts to a fucking dumbbell. He's an asshole, plain and simple.

One of the athletes turned coaches from the Soviet Union, and I want to say Bondarchuk, but I'm not sure, stated once that the sports scientists really didn't have all that much to do with the actual process of coaching once they got their minimal coaching time in.

The Soviet sports system worked, but was often as fucked up as the whole system.

We're not talking about the sports science apparatus, we are talking about the sport ranking procedures, which were always centralized.

I don't know if I buy that in conjunction with Pavel's military background. The military was pretty messed up in terms of funding and communication in that era Pavel was enrolled.

Of course, it doesn't matter. One way or the other, the damage, so to speak, has been done.

I can't argue that Pavel doesn't know what he's talking about, but claiming a credential that can't be verified is equivalent to claiming a credential that doesn't exist.

There is always a whole lot of goofiness when it comes to WOD comments like that.

205 press isn't bad, though...this is the overhead press, not the bench press. I see a lot of XFers not being able to OHP their way out of a paper back though.

In this day and age, I think a 205 press is pretty fucking rare.

Yeah 205 is a respckible press. Perhaps he just transposed DL and SQ. That would be plausible and nutting to be shamed of. But some of the others have gotta be 1/8 squats, or again, one armed or perhaps even scrotal deadlifts.

I looked back at the archives, either SDG is a consitent liar, or he just has a weirdly low DL compared to his squat. Not fair to inlcude him in the invective. 205 is a very decent overhead effort.

Am I missing something? What's wrong with SDG's numbers? They look quite good and pretty balanced, imo.

My fave today is:

"New PB's all around!!
Squat-292.5 (up 1.5)
SP-150.5 (up 4)
DL-363 (up 10)
Total-806!! Previous-790.5

Comment #115 - Posted by gaucoin"

Adding 1.5# for a Sq PR is, ummmm, unique. And if he really got a 150# side press, that's quite amazing.

Ah.

While on the subject of 24 oz. PRs.... what do you think is the normal variance in plate and bar weights? I mean do 45s vary by a pound or more? Or is it just in the ounce range?

I like how in that thread someone says:
31 YOM 170#

CFWU x3

Squat 255
Press 115
DL 275

CFT 645

I have been doing crossfit for a couple of months now but have not seen my overall strength increase (per CFT). It actually seems to have decreased since pure weighlifting days. Is this normal? Is Crossfit more on the cardio/intensity side instead of pure strength?

I am sure my technique has greatly improved with all the great aids on this site.

And Glassman says:
Scott in Ottawa,

Assuming that you're doing the WOD's as prescribed, I'd be surprised if your lack of strength gains weren't caused by malnutrition. Your low total is additional evidence. What did you eat yesterday - b'fast, lunch, and dinner?
Comment #53 - Posted by Coach at May 9, 2007 06:13 AM
Breakfast: Protein shake after my early morning workout.

snacks of nuts, etc... in later morning.

lunch: chicken, vegetable, rice Thai stir fry

afternoon snack: protein shake with vege greens supplement.

supper: 2 lean BBQ hamburgers with onion, spinach, tomato

This would be a quite typical day for me.

An X-vest or sandbag would be much more practical, especially given XFit's renewed AET (Austere Environment Training) emphasis. I mean, when are you gonna get two fit chicks with tons of ink on top of you in a combat zone? If you do, I suggest not doing weighted push ups. Instead, switch to either a modified cowgirl-oral configuration or a stacked MFF doggie position for maximum benefit.

No kidding. Honest, that's a rare breed of idiocy. I have to bow down to someone who tattoos a puking clown on their stomach.

Holy christ.

So, has anyone heard from bill fucking fox yet?

Also, this is extremely dissappointing:
Early Registration Deadline:

Before June 1st - $50 Participant/$10 Spectator
After June 1st - $70 Participant/ $20 Spectator
Day of Event - $90 Participant/ $30 Spectator
The above rates are for those who are interested in partaking in the 1st annual Xfit games.

I can deal with the fee for participants, however, the spectator fee should be low for the sake of making it a nice festive, supportive atmosphere with spouses and kids.

You make your money off:

-water sales
-Zone food sales
-T-shirts
etc
