L1s can train people, they just can't use the term @fit in marketing.Yes I Have Balls wrote:Sort of interesting, what with the new requirements, testing, affiliation bullshit, etc. CFHQ realized that the cat was out of the bag for the absolutely USELESS L1 cert, and when they tried to tighten it up people noticed some things. Mainly, that just having an L1 cert no longer enables you to train people.
So funny, that the Dales and Boneys, etc. just wont ever fess up and admit that they fucked up the last 5 or so years in a blatant cash grab.

This is incoherent. If it means what it seems to say, they've greatly lessened any reason to affiliate. What's the difference between a business card and a marketing flyer? Why pay into the couch gin fund to use the name @fit if you can scrawl L1 @fit trainer all over your web page? Is there any real difference between "come and be trained by a @fit trainer" and "come to my @fit box"?Affiliates are the only ones who can use the name for advertising and marketing, as per the terms of the Affiliate License Agreement - they are specifically paying an annual fee to do so. Level I's get the knowledge of the CF methodology for their one time seminar fee and the limited ability to say they are a Level I on a business card and/or bio/resume.
They also run the danger of @fit being used with such frequency that they lose control. See the Pilates case discussed a few hundred pages back.
These people may actually be as stupid as they seem to be.

I offered crossfit an opportunity to really test itself across a very large and measurable population. I found we were getting weaker and the injuries were simply too many to continue the test. So, if you do a background check on the certs for an institution, wouldn't you want someone like me to at least have had a chance to fix things a bit? Obviously, some of the newer emphasis on strength has helped, but you better not field a football team with such little volume with real lifts. I know it can work on a small scale with a few kids, but take on a team (90+) AND keep the administration happy...now, that's something I want to see.
So, waving your L1 around on your business card gets me back to why I don't have a business card.

Scott used this term today to describe the effect that high rep pull ups have on your hands- calluses, rips and just generally beat up paws are pretty much a given. Calluses will happen and are a good thing to a degree, rips are not a good thing and should be avoided at all costs.

feel free to debate whether it is for B boi's use when Barky is on the rag, or for Barky's use in the ultimate expression of attention whoredom, flicking the bean to her own reflection ala Narcissus , or in her case Barkilissus.
