Great, now I've got to ask: is it left vs right or front vs back?

Also, that's a great picture. HSPU blow vacation?

@F lurkers, you should know your new corporate masters (Reebok and Adidas) support SOPA.

Since @F is admittedly just a rip-off schmorgasbord of other exercise methods, any bets as to how long it would be before @F.com was blacked out?

Fitness Marketing 101: Writing Linkbait

Step 1: Publish a blog post that disses Crossfit

Example:

http://www.trifuel.com/training/triathl ... fe-program
4. Crossfit Endurance is a very poor selection of strength work for endurance athletes. Multi-sport athletes are some of the most driven and hardest working athletes. They will do almost anything to improve their performance. Well, Crossfit should not be on that list. As an endurance athlete, strength work should be spent on clean and functional movements that will enhance balance, symmetry, stability and bio-mechanical movement in their specific sports. With the high amounts of volume for any endurance athlete, overtraining becomes very prevalent. We should not exacerbate that training load anymore with high repetition and erratic CF workouts. Time in the gym should be spent building the body back to take on the demands of the sport or sports.
Step 2: Get half a million hits and two thousand angry comments in a single day.

Step 3: Reap the ad revenue from all those new eyeballs.

Step 4: Laugh at the two thousand butt-hurt rebuttals from people who'd never even heard of you until today.

Step 5: Congrats, you're now a minor fitness celebrity!

It worked for The Gorilla, it's working for this triathlete guy, and it can work for you!

Wow.

http://www.wellandgoodnyc.com/2012/01/1 ... sfit-gyms/
Reebok creates 50 mobile CrossFit gyms

CrossFit gyms (called “boxes” by those obsessed with the killer, cult-favorite workout) are a fitness fixture in most major U.S. cities. But that’s not stopping Reebok from getting in on the game. (Check out the movie-trailer-style commercial here.)

According to Ad Age Magazine, the company plans to trick out shipping containers as mobile CrossFit gyms—they’re typically super rustic, garage-y warehouse locations anyway—and “deliver them to 50 locations around the world, as a means of encouraging people to try CrossFit.”

Viktoria Wallner, VP-brand marketing communications at Reebok, told Ad Age that the aim is to make CrossFit more accessible, rather than fully mainstream.

Whatever its goal, Reebok will certainly share credit for giving the gladiator-worthy workout global presence, and for making it harder for more people around the world to walk the next day.

Question: WTF is Reebok Crossfit? Did Reebok buy up Crossfit or something? Reebok.com goes straight to Reebok-Crossfit. I caught a commercial for "the sport of fitness" and couldn't believe this stuff's actually gone mainstream now. WTF is "the sport of fitness" anyway? Crossfit doesn't measure how fit you are. What's "fitness" anyway? If anything, Crossfit is "the sport of unfocused interval gym training". Now they got a deal with Reebok? The Mayans really were on to something.

The blue ones look pretty decent. I'd wear them. The red ones aren't too bad either.

I'm not gonna be paying more for shoes than I do for my gym membership though.

If you workout at @fitbok, you'll never have that problem unless you plan on working out in a pair of vintage Jordans.

On another note, the infiltration is nearly complete. This month's Runner's World showed up with a huge @fit endurance article and I just picked up the new Competitor magazine at the running store and on the cover is Annie Sakamoto swinging a KB with an accompanying article on @fit, plus an article about Amundson.

The bobsledder doesn't count because he didn't get full extension at the top. Unless of course, he's a crossfitter, then he just has a lousy publicist. Just like the WODs, rules are constantly variable.

So what does it mean to CF circa January 2012? I ask because on the forum I see a Smolov support thread that's a whopping 56 pages long and half of the fitness section is about Westside, 5/3/1, Olympic lifting, GSLP, Starting Strength, 70's Big, etc. It seems like strength training is the new CF.

So what does this mean? Are we all doing CF now?

I'd ask over there but I'm afraid it would get deleted.

I knew Rafe when we lived in Bellingham. He was into @fit slightly at the time but quickly got away from it. He was always a big MoveNat/Parkour guy. Didn't know he was an Olympic bobsledder

If this has not been mentioned in this thread, I am surprised. I have nothing but respect for the young lady taking the initiative to get in shape, but she has chosen the wrong approach in my humble opinion.
Edit: I hesitated to put this here - I don't like the way she has been used on both sides of the CF fence. I don't know if putting it here was the right thing to do or not, but I'm pretty sure there would not be any kind of open discussion at the CF forum about it either.

Serious question: is this young lady still training today? If so, how is she doing?

Good for her for having the balls to sign up and have to start from scratch.

Good for that trainer as well. Taking her on can't have been an easy decision. Looks like she's having fun and making progress, provided that trainer is intelligent enough not to injure her too badly.
