Certain global agitators, left wing demagogues, and batshit crazy academics would have everyone believe that gender is some sort of socially constructed role that everyone learns in the sandbox and plays at for the rest of their lives in order to not upset the community apple cart. Doesn't take an astute observer to grasp the biological reality of the situation, and know that there are typical and atypical expressions of this very real phenomenon that stretches well beyond "some got penises, and some got vaginas". A man of this age (and hyper-masculine history) suddenly waking up and realizing, "Oh shit, I'm a woman" points to a very real and disturbing shift in this man's mental faculties with an origin that can only be explained by something going seriously haywire at the neural or hormonal level (and probably both). A truly human response would be "call a doctor and get every possible test run in order to figure out what's wrong before he starts believing he's the reincarnation of Elvis Presley". However, in the valueless landscape we find ourselves living in today where trans appreciation is an expected social courtesy rendered as blood payment for one's cis/white/male privilege, and otherkins are given equal voice at school gatherings because "gee, maybe they really are a penguin trapped in a human body", this atypical and disturbing behavior is now trumpeted as some sort of courageous act of personal expression and self-determination. All I see is a guy who has lost his goddamned mind, and the world seems more disturbed by my dismay than the very real disintegration of a man who used to represent the very flower of masculinity.

a minor correction to your post, i believe. apparently, mr. jenner has long felt that his true self to be a woman, so he did not suddenly wake up and believe his biology didn't represent his gender. that fact doesn't make him less pathological. just means the pathology is longstanding.

A few million social radicals (my judgment lol) also care because it is a great tactical opportunity to force people to declare sides in the culture war. True, not permanently, but each win makes the next easier.

Cultural Reactionaries like me care because we see more and more of those who used to care about the old ways or those who thought they cared about the old ways going oer to the other side on yet another issue.

This was good. It made me reconsider what I think. There are two things here:

1) Bruce Jenner. He is unimportant and I see your point with respect to him. His trip and actions do not change my life one iota. Well, other than the unpleasant feelings reflecting on his case causes me.

2) The cultural response to his case. This is where I disagree strongly. That is the manifestation of a cultural death wish. I think that is undeniable. One can argue whether or not the death of the dominant culture is a good or bad thing. But I do not think that that one can argue the response to Jenner is something other than a rejection of what has come before.

In the overall scheme of things, I don't give a fuck if Bruce Jenner cuts his dick off or not, or wants to be called Caitlin or anything else. I care because this thread really should be rolled up into the operation distraction thread.
