Player 2 has entered the game.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

This shit looks so staged. Terrible bouncing at its best. If you already have the guy outside, then fuck him. If he is still causing a disturbance, call the cops. Plus, how the fuck did they end up with a camera man catching all of the action with no 'shakey cell phone cam'. Bullshit, I say....

Easy to make a highlight reel hit when dude is drunk and caught looking. I don't care if the guy shit in a champagne bucket, I'd be surprised to not negro up on assault charges if that video was verified and produced as evidence.

I pine for the days when shitting in the champagne bucket was considered hilarious and everybody thought you were the life of the party. Same goes for pissing in the crisper.
I don't think that was staged. And even if it was, his head hit that pavement pretty fucking hard after mandingo unleashed the fury on him.

I sort of know a guy (classmate of my sister) who got into an argument with a guy in a bar a few weeks back. Him and his buddy left and waited for the other guy outside and apparently jumped him - reports (eye witness of a cop who had been in the bar) said it was over fast but the problem here is the victim hit his head when he fell and then died a few hours later. Second degree murder charges for both.Blaidd Drwg wrote:Easy to make a highlight reel hit when dude is drunk and caught looking. If the guy who delivered the ko was really a bouncer, he is going to be facing a ton of charges.

Doorman is a hell of a bidness
Johno and Bats may remember this...
Y'all remember that bouncer at the J&M in PSquare. Played for UW I think, He was booting a group out the door and got a little off kilter banged his head. He whipped up and grabbed what turned out the be a bystander off the public sidewalk, upended him right onto his dome. Bystander is a quad now and the J and M is under new ownership.

My grappling instructor, Eric, was head bouncer for the J&M for a number of years. I'll ask him, he'll know the story. It was the Wild, Wild West.
After seeing the video, all I can say is, Eric told lots of stories of how he would con a guy into stepping outside, then lock him out of the bar. No fight was necessary.
Also, Eric's crew had a lot of jits experience and he encouraged chokes over punches.

I remember the same thing happening in a straight up fist fight in an Omaha bar during the college world series one year. That's the perils of knocking someone out or throwing them on their dome. As Tim Cartmell has said, "The ground never misses."Terry B. wrote:I sort of know a guy (classmate of my sister) who got into an argument with a guy in a bar a few weeks back. A guy went to school with died in a bar fight from hitting his head.
Re: This is one of the most brutal knockouts I've ever seen
A high school classmate of mine kicked a kid in the head in an actual fight, not some random drunken dude getting a cheap shot, when we were 19 and ended up in prison. That silverback is fucking toast.

BD, Eric says he thinks the quadriplegic story is an urban myth. The closest he knows of was when a skinhead Neo Nazi type got pounded near to death, about a block from the J&M. Eric thought the guy wasn't going to make it, but no death was reported.
Were you thinking of the kid who got chased by plainclothes KC Sheriffs & one of them bounced him into a wall, putting him in a coma?

He has some wild stories. He really got to test his skills, because he is 6'2" and goes about 180 on a heavy day...not very imposing looking.
But he got tired of the stupidity.

Money-wise, not much. Unless you're skimming cover charges or some other scam. Lifestyle-wise, it's probably fun for a while.

Re: This is one of the most brutal knockouts I've ever seen
Videos like this piss me off... I bounced for over 16 years in Philly, NYC, Long Island and shitbag Ohio now... I've seen shit, done shit and could probably write a damn book that will sell about it all.
I've worked doors, inside, Latin Clubs, "gang" clubs, guido clubs, biker bars, redneck bars, all over the map. Riots, knives, guns, baseball bats, a machete once, some crazy shit over the years.... Having said all that, from my "professional" view:
A - the patron is outside, game over, stay in the fucking bar.. you win, he loses. He goes home pissed off and you keep the bar patrons safe from an asshole
B - if you are easily taunted by a drunk patron, you shouldn't be a bouncer
C - the fatass black man is a pussy for sucker punching him, he should be arrested for his bitch move
So it wasn't a good knockout, it was a pussy punch by a fat sack of shit to a guy who wasn't even looking. My mother could have done the same thing.
Videos like this give people like us a bad name.

Re: This is one of the most brutal knockouts I've ever seen
I know a guy who works doors who isn't that big. Anybody who knows him would rather go around the block than cross him if he was in a foul mood which he rarely is. However, he says that it would be easier to be half a foot taller and 50 kilos heavier and sit on his ass than to have every other drunk guy challenge him because their girlfriends outweigh him.johno wrote:He has some wild stories. I made shit in Philly and shit here... In NYC I worked for PSA as a crew boss, meaning I basically ran security at whatever club they put me at. That was good money. 3-4 nights a week means more than most people make in a week in a normal job.johno wrote:Money-wise, not much. Unless you're skimming cover charges or some other scam. If you work the door you can get money from people skipping the line. There were nights when me and the other doormen walked out with well over 800 a piece.
Working the VIP sections gets you tips from the high rollers asking you to watch their stuff while they dance or do whatever they do. There were nights when there was some "interesting" stuff happening behind the VIP section that wasn't meant for anything remotely public, I got tipped for blocking views, turning the other way or whatever.
Bodyguard work paid well, but dealing with fans was annoying.
I can share more stories if you'd like... I am sure some statute of limitations wore off by now haha
