And that's at the heart of why your free speech is less than Kaz's. A person can go anywhere and hear bland platitudes about the equality of all people and why can't we all just get along???? But you can search for years to find one intelligent man being honest. So yes...free speech runs both ways..yours just sucks because it's common and boring.

Free speech is a big thing with me. Talking about original shitbags, yeah, I was one. Back in San Francisco, at Rolling Stone, back in 1969. It wasn't digital, you couldn't say what you wanted. You had to deal with typesetters. Hard drinking blue collar guys. Take your text into them, they took out the lead letters one by one and set them. Once, when the text had the word "fuck" in it, a guy took out the lead letters and threw them at my (our) head. And we had to tell them that we were going elsewhere. And we won.

Seems like a small fight these day.

You're whining. You have many friends in this regard. It's my free speech to point that this attitude is corrosive to the environment of this place.

All I know is that when I'm called a cracker or a honkey, it has no meaning to me. Its not really an insult. Being a woman, cunt and bitch hold a lot more power. I know what those words mean. And they are clear insults. The other two are basically saying, "you white person!". Not a lot of insult there. So, I don't really find it a fair comparison.

I have very southern relatives. To the older generation, all blacks are niggers and that means they are inferior. And the funny thing is that my grandmother fostered several black children and taught their mothers to read. Even refused to have one of those children be forced to sit in the back of the bus when taking him to doctors appointments, "this child is my responsibility, you will not separate us and I am not going back there.". But she still used the word and admitted several times that she had struggled with the culture she was raised in, ie, blacks were inferior and desserved their station in life. She's not the only one. Several of my older female relatives donated their time and money to help but had a hard time moving past those thoughts in their hearts. They always told me they were grateful I wasn't raised in that prejudice.

Just some anecdotes for thought.

I am simply explaining why I don't like the word. And I don't think using it will change anything or help the situation. But honestly, I think black people using it is just as bad, kind of like gay people embracing the word queer. Its meant to make people uncomfortable and keep us separate.

Why can't we all just get along? :)
