Having one candidate say that God intended for the pregnancy to happen is stupid. If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife. (Deuteronomy 22:23-24)
Having the other candidate stand up and say that he knows that God did not intend it is nearly equally asinine.

LOL, indeed. We're far past flat broke, in multiple constant wars, the FED is constantly fucking us/fucking up, rights and privacy are being eroded/taken away at a rapid pace, and yet every dipshit wants to focus on gay marriage, abortion, rape, and gossipy bullshit. The reason is that those are the only things the two opposing "teams" actually disagree about: shit that comparatively don't fucking matter. People that still think there is difference between R's and D's on things that matter, and that if their side could just win everything will get better, are like this guykreator wrote:Why does our national political discourse focus always around stuff that will affect only a few people?

Overwhelmingly, neither Christians nor Jews interpret that passage according to your poorly informed understanding.Terry B. wrote:That's wrong - the Bible is fairly clear that if a woman is raped, she should either be killed or forced to marry the rapist.

Oh, wow. Some nothing Republican said something stupid. There's some important news!!!johno wrote:The Economy: Ignore the unemployment rate (8+% - double it to 16% if you include workforce dropouts), gasoline prices approaching $4.00 per gallon, anemic productivity growth, and that 57% of Americans think the economy is headed in the wrong direction.
And ignore national debt at 16 Trillion.
NO!
Instead, watch the bright, shiny object of the news cycle:
Romney's family dog on the roof of the car
Romney's wife rides a fancy & expensive horse
Romney cut a gay kid's hair 45 years ago
Romney, when asked, stated the obvious about the Olympics' security in England
Romney called an apologetic US embassy statement "disgraceful"
More Bright, Shiny Objects to come. Ignore the economy & foreign policy.
After the Debates, where Romney showed that he wasn't Satan's Spawn, Dems will have to focus on even smaller trivialities.
Are full of passionate intensity.

can you point to a what you think is an appropriate interpretation of these three verses are meant to be interpreted?
the last one is clearly, rape a bitch? get stoned. the preceding seems to be rape a bitch, get stoned... but if she doesn't cry out, she's complicit in the act. can you disabuse us of this notion?

That is not far off how I was reading it. All that bible reading might still pay off.

The Bible speaks in metaphors and analogies, bro. Having "relations" and "stoning to death" obviously don't mean what you think they do.BucketHead wrote:LOL. If a person wants to justify rape, Deuteronomy does it better than an alcoholic with responsibility avoidance disorder could.

Sure, by a small margin they do.milosz wrote:Women make up a majority of 'Americans.'kreator wrote:Why does our national political discourse focus always around stuff that will affect only a few people?
This site suggests 3200 pregnancies a a year (or less, since this is was a 2 year span) resulting from rape in 2004-2005.
By way of comparison:
- There were 1,096 people killed in the US by a natural disaster, or an Act of God, if you will (http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/hazstats/sum11.pdf)
- There were 3,308 unintentional drownings in the US in 2004 (http://www.poseidon-tech.com/us/statistics.html)
- There were 16,272 murders in the US in 2008 (http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/ ... 2s0312.pdf)
- There were 32,885 fatalities by car accidents in 2010 (http://www.statisticbrain.com/car-crash ... tistics-2/)
- There were 668,118 deaths due to heart disease and diabetes in the US in 2011 (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm)
- There were 11,722,755 arrests for narcotics possession in the US, mostly marijuana (http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/content/dcf/en ... fm#arrests)
You really think that what a couple of nutjobs say - which has a slim to little chance of actually changing anything and affecting Americans - really needs to be at the forefront of our national political discourse?
Reminds me of the time John Hagee said that Hurricane Katrina was caused by a gay pride parade. Distasteful and wrong, yes, but why are we so fixated on these types of things?
The fact that anyone gives what these whackos say more than a "screw you" in passing indicates we don't know where to place our priorities, IMO.

Re: Why the GOP has a gender gap.
This issue started with the DNC sicking their Familiars in the media on the Republican primary canidates.
John King from CNN fired the first shot durring a primary debate and the DNC has slowly made this a centerpeice seeing as he has not done anything he said he would other than Pelosicare (cause he backseated on that while his true Masters did their thing.
Gitmo still open

Fucker has to go.
Yes on the extreme end of the Republican's you have some jerks that want a woman to carry a rape baby, an area where they will not win nationally. My "You Can't Stop Rock and Roll" rule ensures that, people screw, drink and get rid of unwanted pregnancies.
On the extreme ends of the Dems you have commies, socialist and femmnazi twats. And by in large thats all you have now on the National end of the DNC.
