Montana GOP candidate charged after allegedly body-slamming reporter
A Fox News reporter who witnessed the scuffle described Republican congressional candidate Greg Gianforte throwing the reporter to the ground, grabbing his neck, striking him and exclaiming, “I’m sick and tired of this!"

Pretty sure a mildly stiff breeze could bodyslam him and break his glasses.

Seriously though, WTF is wrong with right wing media, defending a politician for choking and punching a reporter for asking about his response to the CBO AHA assessment?

Think the country, including Montana, might be a bit divided?

The quote below is a typical example of MSM half truth. The exact same is true among the tribes of the left.FoxNews.com published a first-person account yesterday by veteran correspondent Alicia Acuna, who witnessed the incident: “Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him.”
The Montana donnybrook quickly became a Rorschach Test that highlighted the divide within the conservative media between the serious and unserious outlets. It also showcased how many prominent figures on the right reflexively rally behind Republican politicians, whether the president or a House candidate, even when they are very clearly in the wrong. This is part of a growing tribalism that contributes to the polarization of our political system.
Gianforte seems like a total dick and I hope he gets what's coming to him. Right now politics is a cold war and what truly matters is someone who will vote more like you want on issues. Honor, integrity, decency are all subordinate to POWER in both parties.

And I have to wonder if Greg Gianforte would have attempted to body slam my reporter pal, Scott Mcmillion, a Montanan born and bred who stands 6'4", weighs 250 and is disinclined to take any physical shit off anyone. It would have gone badly for Greg.

Apparently, most of the votes were already in by the time this went down. What a fucking asshole. Why do people in this country admire assholes? seriously? Is it because they equate assholery to leadership? or are they pussies on the outside and bullies down deep so they love it when they see others play the bully when they are too much of a pussy to do it themselves? Or are they just retarded? I think retarded might be part of it.

Well, Gianforte is a multi-millionaire who sold his company to Oracle. Helped Bozeman, MT become a tech center. All good. Folks I talked to who worked for Gianforte (but voted for his opponent out of political principles) say that the sudden explosion of rate was "out of character."

So could it be that this reporter wasn't a standup good guy reporter but an agent provocateur who hounded the congressman like paparazzi, hoping for an incident?

Re: wwe meets gop
Maybe timmah has better info on this, having experience in the bizness, but I'm guessing the reporter (who was probably making little more than minimum wage with no benefits) was under some pretty serious pressure to make get something spectacular. Not that we can't trust the British press to be completely above board in their tactics of coarse.buckethead wrote:So could it be that this reporter wasn't a standup good guy reporter but an agent provocateur who hounded the congressman like paparazzi, hoping for an incident?

No. The guy is known as a conscientious journalist. The question he asked was relevant. Health care was a big issue in Montana. Gianforte would not express an opinion "until I see the CBO score." The CBO score came out Wednesday, so the reporter wanted to get Gianforte's take on it. Which he said he would give. When the CBO score came out.buckethead wrote:So could it be that this reporter wasn't a standup good guy reporter but an agent provocateur who hounded the congressman like paparazzi, hoping for an incident?
So the CBO score comes out Wednesday. The election was the next day. It was a pertinent question. Something like: "Now that the CBO score is out, what is your opinion of the AHCA?"
Gianforte was already angry at another Guardian reporter named Paul Lewis, who made this video that apparently enraged GN40.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/vid ... uist-trump
So maybe Ben Jacobs was getting thumped for something Paul Lewis did.

Turdacious wrote:Maybe the guy was wearing a really short skirt and his tits were hanging out and he was, you know, askng for it. What's the expression: "Would you hit that?" Gianforte's answer: "Fuck, yeah! I would." So he did. Can't blame the guy.
