King Oscar Mediterranean Sardines

Post by 3E9EE »

Damn if Garm wasn't right about something. The Mediterranean style of the King Oscars is pretty tasty, especially over some hot brown rice. Normally I have trouble eating a whole can of sardines, but the tomatoe & olive flavorings (and the fishiness being blunted by the rice) helped these go down smooth. This alone makes it worth the trip to the commissary!!

All of the KO varieties that I have found are good. They're smaller than other brands and have been treated more gently in processing, so they're not broken up.

The ones in olive oil are a good switch from the Med, and even the ones in soybean oil are better than any other brand. Haven't found the ones in salmon oil yet.

GDG!
The flesh is weak, and the smell of pussy is strong like a muthafucka.

The Salmon Oil ones are also very good...comparable to the ones in Olive Oil. Trader Joe's has them in my area.

What's been easier to find than the KO sardines is their kippers.
Those are fairly tasty warmed up in the skillet with some butter and onions.
