Bela Tuna

I found this stuff a couple of years back, and just ate a can and had to spread the word.

From Portugal, this line-caught, Skipjack Tuna in EV Olive Oil comes as a fillet. Costs about $2.50 per can, with about 320 calories (I'm sure it's less since you drain the oil) and 26g of protein.

This stuff is so good, you need to add nothing. No salt, pepper, mayo, nothing.

Mucho SHUGTASTICO!

More than half of the fancier bistro and Italian recipes I've skimmed through have recommended oil packed imported tuna for their recipes when canned tuna is part of the ingredients list. I've been tempted, but I just haven't been able to make myself pay $2.50 for a can of something that costs $1.25 in the stores. But I might...if the recipe sounds especially promising. Thanks for the link and the knowledges.

Tuna packed in olive oil is the only way to eat the stuff.

This is the brand that sparked my sardine thread. Good stuff. I'll never do the salad again, but out of the can they are pretty good.

I just found the Bela smoked sardines at my local Trader Joe. They are a nice change from the King Oscars.
