We are talking about online presence. I bet he is a great guy (that probably means different things to different people). Don't need to meet the guy to know he has committed more than his fair of faux pas.

His business is primarily (in the past at least) online. So he should worry more about how he comes across to people online, than his winning personality in RL. I like to think my occasional comments on the guy as a market correction. Most people just dismiss the BS and move on. I recognize he has shit to offer, but could use a little help in the marketing department and reeling in of his hubris.

LOL. You doubt it because you are wrong. Go google Herpes gladiatorum. There's a lot you don't know.

YAWN!

Of course there is a lot I don't know. I asked about if there was any info on herpes contact via mats. If you would actually read your own info, you would see you are just as confused here as when you were babbling about bandhas and perineums and pelvic floors.

That kinda herpes is spread via contact with others who have an infection (active or not). Some people argue for cleaning mats to keep the risk of infection down, but this is nonsense. You don't get herpes from toliet seats or mats.

Perhaps in some bizarre occurance in some theoretical world, but not in practice. Wrestling puts you at risk, not going bare foot on a mat.

Take your own advice and try not to act like a troll 82% of the time.

You are obviously bright. So it ain't your reading comprehension that is in question. Then again you are a Fat Cat so I will chalk it up to laziness.

Never saw this kinda herpes in years and years of wrestling and what not. Thanks for the info. But not common and not from mats.

Done with this part of the discussion.

He probably didn't get herpes from the toilet seat, but from being bent over one.

Go search the archives. There was a post a while back about HS wrestling being shut down in Minnesota (?) because of a H. Gladiatorum outbreak. Note the name, BTW.

It happens a lot in wrestling and grappling. I don't think it is from the mat, but contact with another combatant that has it. Some either don't get symptoms, get it mild, or can spread and don't yet have symptoms. Nasty shit. I've had two friend s break out with sores all over. Nasty....

I remember reading that in the catalog. Jaw-dropping and not exactly his proudest moment.

What's so awful about RMax Running? I havent' seen it and know very little about the technical side of running.

I don't know about HIV, whatnot, does sound a bit extreme. But folks do get herpes and other things from wrassl'n room mats.
Herpes? I doubt that. Maybe your typical parasites you might get in a gym locker room, but I have never heard conclusively of people getting herpes from mats, toilet seats, etc. It is not the environement where bacteria or viruses flourish.

I've spent a lot time on mats and never had a problem nor know of anyone getting anything other than athlete's foot or ringworm. I've had neither.

HIV? Never. This copy came out long after most people realized that HIV contraction was limited to very specific and limited contact. Certainly not from blood on a mat through a cut on your foot. Highly unlikely.

If you have info on the herpes thing, I would like it. Probably will never need it again, but curious. I think I pretty much immune to herpes anyhow.

Jason
You've "spent a lot of time on mats" but have never gotten ringworm? Mmmmm...okay.

I think people have various immunological strengths. I get the flu. Almost every year. If anything involves the throat, I get it. But skin and GI problems, never, or rarely. I do not have cavities. I will probably die young of heart disease.

I have been exposed to many skin viruses and bacteria (we all have). Worse problems: scabies from gardening and folliculitis due a benign bacteria I am susceptible to.

We had an nasty outbreak of althete's foot and ringworm, when I wrestled. I never had symptoms of either.

I am probably an asymptomatic carrier of everything.

What's up with the "I will die young" diagnosis? History of heart disease in the family?

Not an immunologist, but what does your immune system have to do with fungi?

Very strong. Not an insignificant portion of my family are dead by 40 from heart attacks. Others have multiple bypasses by the time they are 45.

Some evidence that dental health is strongly correlated with heart health. In that case, I will live till I am 100 baring other problems. Most of said family members had dentures before 30.

Who knows?

I ain't one either. But I figure that health of your skin (your largest organ, or mine at least) is a function of a decent immune system. My pH is shockingly neutral as well, hence the absence of dental problems and body odor. In general, my skin and mouth just aren't hospitable for foreign bodies.

Now, if you can't find at least 7 punch lines in there, I am going to be disappointed.

My vague recollections from health class are correct. The skin is part of the immune system. It obviously acts as a barrier, but why it is easily inflamed and infected under certain conditions in some people and not others, remains somewhat of a mystery.

Again this is a result of 123 seconds of googling.

I have first hand experience that Scott is a good person and I don't understand why they have to be so aggressive about the commercial aspect. As Sam said, it's really offputting, and that's a shame because the CST/Rmax approach has a lot to offer.
I think this heavy handed (please don't sue me, Leonard Schwarz!) approach is actually something of a misguided attempt to maintain a clear and consistent CST "brand image"; ie, even though their "4x7" program has a bunch of things that would not look out of place in Crossfit, they squash any discussion of the similarlity so as to remain distinct from them in the public mindset. Similarly, since their Clubbell product could so easily be confused with competing products, they feel they can't afford to have their shiny, expensive toy confused with some other lugs' leverage bar product. So they tend to overreact...or at least Travin does.

I agree it is misguided, though. Their forums are polite enough, and mildly informative, and I think that Jarlo and Wilson and the CST Japan guy are superb at what they do...but they are even worse than "The Party" when it comes to the free exchange of opinions and information.

I got my moderator status stripped from me for daring to remark that a traditional Isshiryu karate sensei might have been teaching CST principles when he gave a seminar on using very basic techniques straight out of the katas to deal with all kinds of grappling and MMA related attacks.
(And I wasn't even putting the thread in the section I moderated). That pretty much disenchanted me with the CST mindset...though I do still think they have some very good products and info; I'd rank "Maximology" as one of the greatest most revolutionary video series I'd ever seen to that point.
