Great movie. Brings the flavor of Harlem and the time of the ending of the Vietnam War, creates two complex, tough-guy great characters -- black kingpin Frank Lucas and fearless Jewish drug cop Richie Roberts -- and shows drugs, crooked cops, violence, fear, loyalty, family, racial conflict, and some discussion of success tips for business. Just as good as Eastern Promises with the same ambition, though nothing to match the sauna fight scene.

It is our job to see that it stays there." - George Orwell

Glad you liked the movie and I agree Eastern Promises rocked. However, I think that American Gangster sucked and was nowhere close to Eastern promises. Check out "Gone baby gone" another exceptional movie.
Saw American Gangster last night, fucking fantastic!
I thought it was a very well paced movie, I didn't realize it was 2 1/2 hours long until I got out of the theater. Denzel Washington is incredible, and he plays bad soooooooooo very good.
