Double Header: There Will be Blood & No Country for Old Men

Post by nafod »

Took wife to movies last night, talked her into seeing There Will Be Blood. We both agreed Daniel Day Lewis is an incredible actor, but while I enjoyed the movie as a whole my wife didn't. A little too dedicated to the bleak for her. Yea, the baptism scene was great, cinematography was gorgeous and some other good stuff, but the ending left her hanging.

So after that we snuck in to see No Country for Old Men. Hey, Coen Brothers, right? A little violence and some comedy, with a clean ending? NOT. Lots of violence, nervous laughter in a few spots, great acting and writing, and a vague ending. Sound familiar?

Seeing the two back to back is highly recommended by me. I think we saw them in the right order too. More patience is needed for There Will Be Blood.

ABe viGODa recommended in the previous thread that he couldn't imagine seeing the movie without having read Cormac book. I feel a need to read the book after having seen the movie now.
Don’t believe everything you think.

That reminds me of the night I watched Man Bites Dog and Bad Lieutenant back to back.
