Fat Murey's Gama Fitness

Post by Damien »

A good friend of mine, Rapi Dshar'e, lent me a copy of the Zen Master's super awesome course.

Since I'm posting this in the review section, I'll try to structure it a bit:

Quality: sucks. The text looks like it was written with a typewriter, the pictures are blurry, bad lighting... overall it sucks. Worse than combat conditioning

The course is split into 12 "lessons".
Amongst important lessons as the introduction (wow) you have lessons on variations of his royal court.
Those chapters blew me away. Since now I was armed with such awesome variations as "hindu push-ups with hands together" and "one-arm hindus", or the "gymnastic bridge" (I'm pretty sure he got this from an old indian course about Gama).
Through trial and error Murey seems to have found out that his original "court" lacked any type of pulling, so we have an awesome chapter about pull-ups that will "make my lats and arms scream with pleasure" (?).

Again, his vast insight into never before seen training secrets was revealed to me.
I'm now armed with a plethora of pull-up variations. It never occured to me that I could use different grips on pull-ups or hold a certain position for a bit (he calls it "isometrics" I think). Awesome.

These "isometrics" are covered in a whole other chapter (aparently the Great Gama kept this secret method and it is the source of all his power).

Another addition to his original court is expander work. Learned nothing new again.

What else? You'll learn secret ways to increase fitness (very innovative ways of using the "power wheel"), how you stretch correctly to even gain strength (superdupergreat!), completely secret ways of recovery (now I know what a sauna is for!) and finally THE "hidden key to super strength".
While skimming that final lesson I had a multi-deja-vu experience. Memories of my old judo teacher talking about "focus" and "visualization" appeared in my head. I think Mr. Kubik had similar thoughts in Dino Training and even Dave Tate's words about the "zone" flashed through my mind... weird.

All in all I have to thank my buddy that he spared me the whopping 197 bucks that I saved by not purchasing this grail of training knowledge. I think I'll buy a lifeline chest expander and a power wheel now...

Now look. I've eaten a pice of pie.
When we spin the pie again, the area cut out of the volume of the sphere equals fitness.

Yeah, I never regret not buying Furey products when I pirate them off the web and find out how bad they actually were. IMHO, the best set that has the most interesting fitness material is the Farmer Burns video series, but even it is so riddled with ridiculousness...well it's ridiculous.

The most incredible Furey product I've ever seen advertised is his Dao Zou course. Basically, you learn to walk backwards. I've posted about it before, but it deserves an encore IMHO:
Insane Maniac wrote: I had no idea how much my life was about to change when I peered out a hotel window in Ningxia, China, two summers ago. Several floors below I saw another "old man" walking backwards. Yet, he seemed to be light years ahead of the "old man" I saw on Hainan Island. He wasn't just walking backwards - he was floating. Most importantly, he had a aura of energy surrounding him that beckoned me to come closer. I sprinted down the hallway, pressed the elevator button and prayed the man wouldn't be gone by the time I made it to his station.

When I blasted through the doors I saw he was still there. I breathed a sigh of relief as I approached. And then I did a very un-Chinese thing. I walked right up to the man, as if compelled to do so by an outside force, and interrupted his training. In Chinese I asked him if he could tell me what he was doing and how.

To my astonishment he stopped walking backwards -
looked at me with a soul-stirring smile and began to explain the details of what he was doing. My brother-in-law was there to help with the translation, whenever needed, and I made sure to remember every detail being shared.

I got one good thing out of the course, and that was the referral to Alex Chiu's 'magnetic rings' for recovery and relaxation. I've used my pair almost every day since I got them, and they work great for inducing a deeply relaxed, hypnogogic state. and 20-30 minute power naps...at least for me. Even Matt calls Chiu a flake, but the rings work as promised, although maybe not for the reasons promoted on the Chiu website.

It's funny because those magnetic rings stand out in my mind as the single biggest fitness ripoff I've ever fallen for. They did nothing for me, and cost probably $1.00 to make, but somehow Alex prices them at a ridiculous $40 or something.

This reminds me I need to toss my rings and foot braces back up on eBay. I bought them a couple years ago at the suggestion that they "enhanced" qigong work and recovery. Gave them a good run but did not notice anything that would make me want to continue using them. I guess they could be like taking fish oils, but the oils don't annoy the hell out of me when I'm trying to sleep.

Foot braces?

Yes, you can buy magnets that fit around your insteps and really pump up the magnetic volume, so to speak.

I'm not surprised that FC didn't get anything out of his finger rings. FWIW, I got the high powered neodynium 12K gauss versions, which are supposedly as strong as you can easily get, FC may have been using the low power set.

I'm of the opinion that some people are more susceptible to the sensations the rings generate than others. I also routinely had "out of body" experiences while using "bio circuits" a decade ago, but other people I tried to share them with got nothing out of them. I'd suspect a "placebo" effect, but the initial "break though" experience on the 3rd of fourth try was not anything like I was expecting or had previously imagined.

I am also aware that just because it 'feels good' doesn't mean that the effect is actually doing anything positive for me. It used to be that people would line up at sanitariums to have electric shocks run through their bodies, and I am sure they were delighted with such unusual sensations. (Unless the electrodes were attached to their genitals or some such). I just like 'em, is all I'm saying.
