AvP: Requiem

Post by Shafpocalypse Now »

Worst Aliens movie ever. EVER.

Bad, stupid characters. Dark, shaky, gory as hell.

Why the fuck can't these retards look at the A v P comics and take a story seed from that, instead it's the same gay shit over and over again.

Also, why the hell do they have to keep changing the Aliens. For example, the "PredAlien" in this movie can vomit little aliens down throats...no face huggers needed.

If you have to see it to complete your Alien viewing experience, go ahead and watch it, but prepare to be a bit disappointed.

WTH? I heard this was supposed to "make up" for the first AVP movie. Oh well.

Some say the Alien series ended with #2, I say it ended with #3. whatever.

I didn't like #3 as well. William Gibson wrote a kick ass script for #3, it's worth looking up.

I did like Resurrection, though.

Yeah, have to agree with Shaf on this one. Saw this flick at the show when it came out and was expecting a "make up" for the previous AVP.

I am still waiting for the Batman/Predator flick. I saw a short movie at a comic book convention a few years back called "Batman Deadend." In the movie Batman is hunting down the Joker - Batman was played by that EAS model (Beltram?) - and winds up confronting a bunch of Predators. The movie lasted 10-15 minutes and had the geeks in costumes in a frenzy. I heard, at the convention, that the short movie was to be parlayed into a full-length feature. So far nothing. Maybe the folks looking to make the comic book to big screen jump can get that project going. Taking the comics and making movies from them - particularly the Marvel stuff - has been rather disappointing overall.

None-the-less, I was disappointed with AVPR as well. Hopefully the people in Hollywood can come up with some new ideas as some of the recent horror and sci-fi flicks have been really shitty.

I blame computers and CGI. I'm so sick of special effects, which are...well...not special any more. Oh look, the space vehicle accelerates to light speed distorting all of space into a 4th dimensional toroid that shatters the enemy planet into a million sparkling bits in a cataclysmic explosion. Ho hum. Yawn.

Every movie seems to have to have the "money shot". The big scene. Even Enchanted, the nice little movie about the cartoon character who came forward into real life in New York (Amy Adams is hot) had to finish up with The Money Shot, a dragon crawling around on the skyscraper in a CGI-gasm, thus making the special ordinary.
Don’t believe everything you think.

Nafod,

True knowledge. Of all the Comic-to-big screen flicks that I have watched, none were as bad as, The Hulk. The CGI made the movie look like a video game; also, I grew up watching the series starring Lou Ferrigno which definitely made me a bit bias. Anyway, they are doing another Hulk flick, this time with Edward Norton; his movies are usually pretty good. We'll have to wait and see, though..............

EDIT: My vote is for Manny Ramirez to play the Predator in the next Predator flick.

CGI was barely a concern in the Hulk, I thought, and they pulled it off brilliantly too. The story was top notch, as was the acting and direction. Wish the ending part had been a bit better, but all in all, I can sit down and watch it any time. It's work of art, they should all be done with as much sensitivity and care. Pop psyche and super heroes is fun.

Then there's the flip side. Too much talk, not enough HULK SMASH!!!
Ugh. Not even the beautiful JC could save that movie. I'd rather watch "Creepers" again.

Agreed. The CGI Hulk actually worked best in the scenes where he's tossing tanks around and spitting missile warheads at helicopters. But put it/him in a scene with actual human actors and the suspension of belief just falls apart.

"AvP: Requiem."

UGH.

I was visiting my mother to take care of some garden/yard/pet crap for her and got this out of the $1 Kroger DVD dispenser.

I made it about half an hour into it. what utter shit. I've seen 8mm films made by drug-addled film school students that made more sense.
