What is the feeling in Russia about the death of Alexander Solzhenitsyn author of multiple books about Soviet repression. The Gulag Archipelago was one of most important reads of my life.

Stalin was Georgian, not Russian. Too bad Russia couldn't produce a leader like that.

In Russia nationality never had much meaning. But nevertheless its true. And it strange, that all pretenses about stalinizm are to Russia :) They must be to Georgia! :)

There's no way for Russia to produce such a great man. After all Georgia defeated Russia and Gitler.

1 "Georgia defeated Russia" - that may be true :)
2 "...and Hitler" - but that not true. It was not Georgia and not Russia, it was USSR. And America since 1944.

And numbers were just huge. When mongols come to russian town Ryazan, thtre where about 250 000 mongols. And how much can gather Ryazan's knyaz? Maksismum 15 000- 20 000!!! And so was in the most mongols wars.

I don't read that book. Will try to find it in russian.

Russia doesn't like to remember that it spent 300 years under Mongol rule.

And today, it is a matter of some pride in Russia to have some Mongolian blood. "A touch of the Tartar." Such people are thought to be more ambitious (and more ruthless) than your basic Slav.
