So I had my roommate come to the gym with me and hold the heavy the bag while I kicked and punched it relentlessly for twenty min without a rest. We even talked while I hit the bag, joked around, it was a good time.
No more noise issues after that, magically fixed.

I use this sucker every night, a must for shift workers.
Brookstone Tranquil Moments

My only complaint is that it doesn't have 'rain on a tin roof'. (It does have rain and thunderstorm though.)

Amen. It's impossible for me to sleep without some kind of ambient/white noise. Usually my air purifier does the trick -- is has just enough background humming. If I've had a particularly bad night and my brain won't shut up I put in a Tibetan singing bowls CD. If THAT doesn't work, it's on to the heavy pharmaceuticals and the theta wave sleep podcast. I abhor having things in my ears, I would have murdered one of your roommates friends long ago as an example.

Re: Sleep Phones
LOL at this timely review. My girlfriend and I visited her father in FL over the weekend, and he and I and her brother went shooting. I kept the ear bud-style earplugs the range gives out.
That night, I can't sleep because she snores. I remember the earplugs. While they were totally adequate for hearing protection from gunfire, they're useless to keep the sound of snoring away.
Sucked.
I'll check out these phones of yours.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Re: Sleep Phones
I travel around a bit and have found one thing that works pretty well. It works for noisy sleep areas and crying babies on planes and as ear protection when shooting.
Simple. Toilet paper. Or any paper you can find --- I've used the blank back page of a book. Tear off a smallish piece, about 3/4 of an ordinary toilet paper sheet. Put it in your mouth, chew into a wet ball. Stick it in your ear. Get a tight seal. It works and it's always available.
(Caution: do not try to save money with used toilet paper.)

You need to clean reusable ones, and replace disposable ones.KBois wrote:i tryed ear plugs for about a week and got an ear infection, so those were out for me as well

It has been shown that mechnical white noise makers are more effective than electronic ones.
Doctors, therapists, etc. use these. It is really an amazing device. Highly recommended.
