Paleo Diet by Cordain
Started actually reading the book the other day. So far I am finding that agree with most of it. Nothing extraordinary about it.
Has anyone else given this a real shot as far as diets go? And what were your thoughts on the book?

I read his "For Athletes" one. It's fine. It's pretty hard to go wrong with lean meats, fruits and veggies, and lots of unsaturated fats, regardless of what the argument behind it was.
It was interesting to read quotes from pre-1970's experts recommending lots of meat and veggies for endurance athletes.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

It's the reasoning not the diet I think is nuts.Grandpa's Spells wrote:I read his "For Athletes" one. It's fine. It's pretty hard to go wrong with lean meats, fruits and veggies, and lots of unsaturated fats, regardless of what the argument behind it was.

Actually starting my second month. I have a looser interpretation of it. I wont give up dairy or oreos. But at my age I have added mass and bodyfat is the same (still to high).

I had never had an oreo until last year! Now I have 2-4 cookies 3-5 times a week. I have eaten a whole column in one sitting but that was my main meal =D>

Doug, don't ever try:
1. Fudge grahams...they are the Devi's Fatassed Sister's cookie.
2. Oreos dipped in white fudge...
Slippery slope.

I'm sure that on one of the @fit forums someone's figured out how to make paleo "oreos" out of almond paste and agave nectar.

My wife got some agave syrup for a bread recipe she wanted to try and to my amazement, agave syrup is awesome--think 'buttery maple syrup' awesome.

Really? I was underwhelmed by it. Maybe I will try some other stuff. I found it rather tasteless.Big Chief Bogatir wrote:=D> =D> =D>Pinky wrote:I'm sure that on one of the @fit forums someone's figured out how to make paleo "oreos" out of almond paste and agave nectar.

Salt and vinegar pringles are great BUT if you get to Canada they make ketchup flavored ones that are unreal!

I checked: Trader Joe's Organic Blue Agave Sweetener is the exact product I'm talking about.Norman U. Senchbau wrote:Really? I was underwhelmed by it. Maybe I will try some other stuff.
