Bad press about people who put pictures bloody hands and people puking all over blogs and brag about how much pain they are always in. The press takes that and puts a negative spin on it?

I do not know if he would recognize me by name, but by face he would or if I a context was given who I am known to associate with in CrossFit. Greg recognized me either at the NorcalGamesQualifier or at the CrossFitGames last year besides 2 CrossFit seminars he attended to observe but not coach at a few years back. I definitely saw Greg at the Games last year but I thought I saw him one day at the NC Qualifier but it could be my memory betraying me ( too many head injuries ). Generally, all we do is say hi in passing but we shared some words during one of the seminars ( I don't think he attended the 2nd but he attended the 1st I was at [ which was actually the 2nd since the 1st was a small test-run of that seminar type ]).
Yes, I do know that Greg can be an ass. It's why I hate and love him. I'd honestly say some of my favorite coaches I ever have trained or played sports under exhibited such a characteristic.

Re: The couch thread
Crossfit has essentially been forced to completely back away from all its foundational principles and statements. Crossfit has not built any 700 lb deadlifters. Crossfit has not proven better at building muscle than "bodybuilding with steroids." Nobody has become an elite athlete, as proven in actual competition against actual world-class athletes, using the Crossfit WODs. The cert coaches (e.g., Rippetoe) knock the general structure, mindset, and programming of Crossfit. Rob Wolf's comments on the SF newspaper comment section were informative: he drew a specific distinction between ATHLETES and generalists and stated, "To reach the elite, one must be quite strong." Of course, nobody has gotten "quite strong" using the Crossfit WODs.
In short, what's left is nothing like what was advertised.
My question is, do any Crossfitters still truly believe that Crossfit is forging elite fitness??
Feel free to chime in you Crossfitters out there who are reading this.

Since @F already has anorexia + orthorexia down pat, should we now add "chronorexia" (obsession with workout times) to their list of mental issues?

More blatant misunderstanding of training principles and priorities, from CFSF:

Or, is it perfect @F, in terms of keeping any of them from turning into real athletes at real sports? EUREKA!!!

Figure out what you suck at, shoot your WaD first and get your body and CNS wiped out, then try to work on the things you suck at when you have nothing left in the tank. Wrong, as in most things @F.In Powerlifting, it is not uncommon to hear a coach remark to one of his athletes that "you've got a 500lb ass, but 300lb hammies", or something similar. Far from being a tactic to rile the ire of a lifter before smashing some weight, these types of remarks are simply coarse reminders that the lifter's weak spots are holding them back from their potential; they are only as capable as the weakest link in the chain.
The same can be said of your general physical preparation.
Once you've established your weaknesses, the finisher can be an excellent time to continue to work on these areas of difficulty. The ideas you formulate do not have to be exact here. The doing is what's important.
Say, you have a weak upper body? Time to break out the deadhang/weighted pullups or some sort of press. A few bouts of feet-free rope climbs are great too.
Not enough wind in the sails? Rally for one or two short sprints after your workout or one mid-distance sprint (think 500m Row or 400m Run).
Worried you're not as explosive as you'd like to be? A few sprint-starts or max vert/broad jumps oughtta help out.
Pick one or two of the things you need attention on and add an appropriate finisher for a few weeks. When progress starts to falter with your given exercise, change it just enough so you can continue to move forward, but so much that it becomes something completely different. Soon enough you'll have full access to that 500lb ass.

Re: The couch thread
I'm trying to complete an analogy. Would you relate CrossFitters to being most like bees, wasps, or hornets? Currently, I'm leaning towards wasps for the following reasons:
1. They can't be bees, since bees have hair. That rules that one out. (Unless there are some bees that shave their chest that I haven't heard about.)
2. Both hornets and wasps can call upon the entire hive to attack someone who disturbs the nest. (Part of that "Forging Elite Community" BS, but hornets don't fit other criteria nearly as well.)
3. Hornets are several times larger than wasps. (They aren't all between 150-180lbs.)
4. Hornets generally have a much more painful sting that wasps. (Stronger.)
5. Hornets prey on other insects, while wasps generally eat a diet of nectar as adults. (I'm sure they count the blocks of nectar too.)
6. It should be noted though that wasp larvae in strictly-parasitic species typically are hatched inside of another bug, and the first thing they do after spawning is chow down on that bug's corpse. (Backstabbing everyone who helped the hive grow initially.)
7. Some wasps will invade the hives of bees to steal honey or larvae. (Or the fame of actual athletes.)
8. Female worker wasps are sterile. (No doubt an effect of dosing too heavy.)
9. Wasps have numerous eyes - two compound eyes, then a few smaller simple eyes. (This makes it easier for them to see when someone posts smack about their hive.)
Any other opinions?

Is that at all surprising? I've already had about thirty-five weekends during my Freshman year that I passed up on. If simply getting laid was high on my list of priorities, or even on the list at all, I would have done it already. If the likes of you can get laid, I ought to have no problems if I tried. The Bastard Son of the Shafman wrote:Shit, there were 6 fucking pages added during the weekend. And POD is still a virgin?

See, that is why you should never allow a camera in any shit you are doing.
We were doing the same shit in Utah for the Draper Bash with my brother. Two days, 8-9 hours a day learning all kinds of stuff. That is the nekkid TGU. Just trying to get the movement down.
Glasshole is an asshole. We keep drifting away from that.
