No, bust it out.

LOL...I just love this shit. Did you see the Fedor to the UFC one I posted? That might be too topical, but it's a work of genius if you love MMA.

A true LOL!
Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction.

I agree with some of your points, but I have to disagree here. That whole introductory sequence was brilliant IMO. If the movie became lame, it was toward the end. I also think that the much-maligned sex scene actually served its purpose pretty well. IMO it was intended to be kind of sordid and ridiculous, and I thought the director achieved that pretty well, even if he didn't do it on purpose.Kazuya Mishima wrote: 4. In the novel, it is implied that The Comedian assassinated JFK. In the movie, we actually see this with a horribly graphic recreation of the Dallas motorcade with brains all over the trunk and Jackie trying to scoop them up in a panic.

Re: Watchmen
Maza...I also thought the opening sequence was brilliant, and really set the tone for the whole movie. I'm just not sure we needed to see the Zapruder film in super slo-mo, hi-def. My main thing is that he didn't need to go that route. The novel is not a "hard R"...not sure why we needed a "hard R" movie to tell this brilliant story. The only reason this thing didn't get the NC-17 kiss of death is that nobody went down on anybody.

Re: Watchmen
Finally caught this on dvd, good show.
I'm not a Bob Dylan fan but that opening credit sequence was brilliant. (Worth the rental price right there.)
I also thought the Philip Glass Koyonisqatssi music during Dr M's conversion was a great choice.
It was nice to see Jackie Earle Haley earning a decent paycheck too. (I heard he was delivering pizzas for a while there.) I don't think I've seen him in anything since Bad News Bears and Breaking Away. He did a bang up job as Rorschach.
As far as the JFK stuff goes, everyone knows that Frank Sturgis shot Kennedy from the grassy knoll. (Maybe he was the Comedian.)

He made his comeback in 2006 with an Oscar nomination for 'Little Children'. I'm glad to see guys make comebacks like that, but I think he's doomed to odd character roles. He's supposed to become the new Freddy Kreuger in 2010.vern wrote:

I picked up the Director's Cut of this last week, and this is defintely one of those times where the DC is MUCH better than the theatrical version. Those extra 25 minutes make all the difference in the world.

Gotta decide if the film is worth buying. I hate buying shit I don't watch more than a couple dozen times. Definitely will check out the DC. Thanks!Kazuya Mishima wrote:He made his comeback in 2006 with an Oscar nomination for 'Little Children'. I'm glad to see guys make comebacks like that, but I think he's doomed to odd character roles. Re: Watchmen
I'm a HYOOGE fucking nerd when it comes to comic books and so I'm a bit biased but I absolutely fucking loved this movie.
It was everything it needed to be even with the minor changes from the book.
I bought a used copy and it fucking quit about an hour and a half and 3 beers in so I made the old lady haul my ass back to town and traded it back in and payed an extra 10 bones for the new director's cut.
Money well spent.
I need to get my hardcover copy of the novel back from a buddy of mine so I can read that bitch again.

It's like an old girl that you just love...I can see all the flaws, but to me that's a part of her beauty.
Unfortunately, the commercial failure of the movie will pretty much ensure we don't see another film like this for a long fucking time. Thanks to the studio heads for being dumb enough to give Snyder the money he needed to get this thing done...in retrospect, what the FUCK were they thinking. A hard R movie about superheroes who aren't a household name. Watchmen fans...you got a fucking GIFT with this movie.
Loved it at the theater. Love the DC even more.

As a massive Watchmen fanboy I can completely agree that this movie was made for the fans. That's the only way Zack Snyder wanted to do it.

Re: Watchmen
I haven't read the graphic novel but I just got through watching the movie. I thought it was fantastic and plan on reading the graphic novel.
Re: Watchmen
Agreed but then it's painful to watch them rip it apart like everything else. Their response was surely noted by Hollywood. This may be the last effort to please the fans we see for a long, long time.Kazuya Mishima wrote:It's like an old girl that you just love...I can see all the flaws, but to me that's a part of her beauty.

The novel has all kinds of things embedded in it, works on a bunch of levels. You'll enjoy it.Mickey O'neil wrote:I haven't read the graphic novel but I just got through watching the movie. I thought it was fantastic and plan on reading the graphic novel.

Just watched on DVD. Brilliant, IMO. Gonna watch it a few more times before I send it back.
