hey guys, i need to do a little bit of bragging. it's my testimonial page, i'm allowed

I FINISHED MY FIRST 5K!!!

the summer before i started CFing, i was working on increasing my metcon through running. it was ugly. i was trying the "couch-to-5k" plan (google it), and my absolute best performance was 2.2 miles jogged without stopping (4.5mph ish)...somewhere in the middle of the summer...and i could never top that. i averaged about a mile at that pace. the furthest i've run at a shot for CF was 2 half miles for murph.

i went to CF Milford's fittest person in CT challenge yesterday and was really dejected after discovering the 3rd wod of the day was a 5k...i was dreading it all day, especially with my legs tightening up on me. i talked to a few guys about it and was like, "you know what? i'm finishing the damn thing. i don't care if i have to walk most of it, i'm finishing it"

lining up to start, i had giant butterflies and was almost ready to burst into tears (i may or may not have been crying for some stretches of the races, actually).

i got lapped by the front of the pack, and there were very short periods of walking. (i really did jog 80% of the first two laps, short stints of walking before returning to the slow jog)

after a couple of asthma attacks (i don't usually have asthma) and tear fests, I made it in at 40'01", STILL running, after everybody else had finished (there was another guy that DNFed, so i wasn't the LAST one)...but it was great that everybody stayed and waited >10 extra minutes for me to bring in the rear, cheering me on the whole time. i love crossfitters...seriously. most supportive group of people, bar none.

i finished my first 5k!

FORTY MINUTES for a 170lb woman who does @fit to run 5k!? That's, that's...elite, I guess.
