Perfume. The story of a murderer.
Even I liked this Sci Fi(?)about a guy born with a super powered extraordinary sense of smell. Well, I won't give the details on how it deveops and how it ends but it's certainly worth a watch.

This is a great movie. Made the wife sit down and watch it with me, despite complaints before hand she really enjoyed it.

I had my doubts at first, too. I don't usually care for movies set in the 1700's with the English accent dialogue and costumes. But it sure gets rollin'. The baby's mother working the fish market stand was really hot, eh?

What's up with all the recent german movies hitting international cinema?

Now look. I've eaten a pice of pie.

This is a complicated subject. What's up with German language television? I've been outta the loop for a while. Is there anything decent from the last couple of years?Damien wrote:What's up with all the recent german movies hitting international cinema?

The overall quality of german TV is pathetic.
Most of the big stuff that's been released in the past years is either retarded (big brother, popstars, whatever) or from the US (desperate housewives, grey's anatomy, etc.), mostly both.
I admit that I'm not really watching much TV though and if I do, it's usualy a rental movie.
Cinema is something else though. There's been some good releases recently, since German directors started figuring out that cinema is not theater.

Das Leben der Anderen was badass film making.

Well that's a nauseating thought. I dunno.

The word is that the ubiquitous Weinsteins bought the rights to it, but one of the major players in the remake died during the adaptation. It is likely it will not be made. Hollywood gobbles shit up in a more defensive posture than an offensive one most of the time.Damien wrote:Yes it was.Fat Cat wrote:Das Leben der Anderen was badass film making.

Interestingly, Das Leben der Anderen and Perfume have been on my shelf for a long time. Been too busy to watch much and when I do, a bit too exhausted to watch anything that requires much brainpower.
Getting back in the movie saddle again and hope to watch both over the next couple of weeks.
