Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (2008)

This film kicks much ass. If you grew up during the cold war and remember things like radical chic and the RAF, definitely see this. Ever since The Lives of Others I have been paying more attention to German cinema, and this is the reward. It tells the story of Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and perhaps most importantly Gudrun Ensslin, the spiritual force behind their violence. In the course of portraying the events leading up to the German Autumn, it also casts the development of Germany's anti-terrorist agency. For sure, anyone who is interested in terrorism and terror as a contagious meme should check it out.

Thanks for the recommendation.

In German cinema: something lighter and quite odd but, IMO, compulsively watchable is Run Lola Run.

Honestly, I was reluctant to go see this movie.
Since the impact of the RAF is still so fresh, the topic isn't yet discussed with objectivity at all (in Germany).
So the fear was, that this movie would suck balls big time, portraying the members of the first RAF as a caricature of themselves, ie. a group of evil, ill-willed terrorists, completely void of rational thought (which is how they were, and are portrayed as in german conservative media).

But I must say, they did a pretty good job with the movie and the characters (and the student-revolution of '68).

I think that for foreigners, some parts of the movie (attempted assasination of rudi dutschke, the whole horst mahler thing, etc.) won't really make sense. Apparently, that didn't hurt the movie's reception internationally though...

Now look. I've eaten a pice of pie.
When we spin the pie again, the area cut out of the volume of the sphere equals fitness.
