I tend to agree, but I thought Leaving Las Vegas was pretty good.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

That was the high point, for sure. Everything else has been milking it.

Were you unfortunate enough to see the prosthetic torso he wore in "Ghost Rider?"

*** MOVIE KNOWING SPOILER ALERT ***

"Knowing" arrived from my queue. I put NC in the category of lucky actor turned elitist artist/pseudo-intellectual. Once pigeon-holed I just keep seeing it over and over. In "Knowing" he plays an uber-matematician/astronomer professor at MIT with a scotch problem. He does his trademark "Life has got me on my heels, so I slump in my easy chair and look forlorn". Throw in a smattering of weak plot devices, unanswered stuff that happens to connect the beginning with the end, a couple of haunted crazy bitches, spooky angelic aliens, no sex, poor parenting and you have this summer's non-blockbuster. I will never get that 130 minutes back. Watch an inteview of NC and you start to say that Kevin Coster ain't all that bad, at least you know who you want to choke first.

Leaving Las Vegas was good. Bringing out the Dead was good, but that's because of Scorcese and Ving Rhames. The new Bad Lieutenant is supposed to be excellent, as hard as it is to go to a Nicholas Cage movie, I'll probably check that one out. Raising Arizona was awesome. Matchstick Men was OK. But the Chronicles of Suck are amazing. Even movies that aren't totally hateable (The Rock), he's still terrible in them.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Red Rock West is a great film. Cage stars with Lara Flynn Boyle, Dennis Hopper.

Of course Ghost Rider is the.best.movie.ever. Paired with Sam Elliot as the more even gravelly voiced than already abnormal old dude? What not to love?

This movie wasn't so bad with him, of course he was surrounded with guys that can play the dipshit squad pretty good so I'm sure that help quite a bit.

I was busy paying attention to Eva Mendes.

But Sam Elliot made that movie.

I could not finish it, and for me, that's saying a lot. (I watched and enjoyed all of the "Blind Dead" movies.)

Mendes or no, after about an hour I said "No fucking way am I watching this."

Hopper is another one of these clowns who by way of longevity in the trade has now become some sort of fucking deep thinking artist. So Dennis, where did you find the motivation for the complex portrayal of Deacon in Waterworld? IT WAS THO AMATHING!

for fuck sake, he is just another crazy hippy who can almost remember his lines...(mental note to self) never watch "inside the actors studio again, ever.

He was good in "Land of the Dead." Very funny; I got the impression that he wasn't acting as much as showing up and being Dennis Hopper.

Fuck that, Dennis Hopper is a great actor when he has a script that lets him represent. This may be the greatest single scene in the history of film, and it's carried by him, despite being face to face with Walken (who is no slouch). It has it all, humor, grit, undercurrents of fear and loyalty to his son...fucking brilliant.

Usually 24 has a good script but Hopper was laughable as Serbian General Victor Drazen.

Lara Flynn Boyle was my babysitter a couple times when I was a kid.

And yeah, good movie.

Cage would not have a career if he wasn't Coppolla's nephew.

His dad died a few weeks back.

Still, he sucks. Face Off was a decent movie with two big hams. Travolta and Cage in the same movie?

Remember - Nick Cage was once married to Lisa Marie Presley, who was once married to Michael Jackson.

So by a few degrees of separation, Nick Cage and Michael Jackson have been intimate.

If that isn't enough to scare you, nothing is.

And yea, he kinda sucks as an actor. Overrated.

I seem to recall Vampire's Kiss (or something like that?) was pretty decent.
