Econoprowler

Post by Shafpocalypse Now »

Yeah. This thing is great.

After putting it together and taking it to a somewhat soft gravel parking lot, I proceeded to do some pushes. I'd go out on the big horizontal handles, then come back on the low handle in front. It dug down a bit in the soft, wet gravel.

I'd do a few then add 2 plates. Do a few more, then add 2 plates. The third trip out with 4 plates on it, I had to stop and seriously considered unloading the plates and walking them back to the car one by one, but didn't. Making 4 trips with the plates would have been easier than pushing it back was.

The big thing was that no momentum was every developed on this surface. Each step was a big push.

I ran over 3 broken bottles and 2 piles of dog turds that I had to wipe off the skids.

I got a few dry heaves loading it back into the car. This makes exactly 6x in my life I've gotten the dry heave or thrown up from exertion. I'm pretty sure the low handles are what did me in.

Best and worst piece of training equipment I've ever purchased.

I love how the dry heaves sneak up on you 30 seconds to a minute after you are done.

I like these workouts.

I've done 2 and 3 (1/4 mile).

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I can't wait until the practice pitch dries up enough to make the little she-ruggers do it. I can't see using 450#s on grass with that bitch.

Oh yeah.

And all my work is done on asphalt.

Slightly uphill with the high handles and the slight downhill on the low handles makes for some nice over speed training.

Nice link, EZ. I'll have to give that a try.

Been using this sled at the gym, Sorinex Root Hog:

Not as high zoot as the Prowler, but a nice solid sled. I like the multiple handles and pulling options. Using it on a rubber gym floor is a mofo since the contact area is so large. Even a 45 on the thing makes it almost impossible to push.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

I give the Root Hog a thumbs down. Sand Guru has one and it is vastly inferior to the Prowler.

I hope to get an Econo this summer. I've been pushing a 45# plt. on the rubber matting at the gym and it has been kicking the fuck out of my ass. I can only imagine what pushing a loaded Prowler will be like.

IMO pushing the plate on a rubber mat is much fucking harder. I have a Prowler too.

Prowler is much more useful though in terms of versatility obviously.

Not bad from what I see. The skids are turned up so it doesn't dig.

Are the skids that come on the prowler bolted on, or are they welded on? I see that elite sells replacement skids but I can't tell if they bolt over the existing ones or completely replace the existing ones.

The new ones come with bolt on skids for easy replacement.

I heard one guy ran like 80 players through prowler conditioning stuff over concrete for 2-3 months and had to replace the skids, but they seem to be wearing fine for the amount I use it.
