Or you can make people think you're running the 135 mile Badwater Ultramarathon in Death Valley, but actually do some made-up shit solo run in a similar location that is only 30% of Badwater's distance and do it fully supported with a crew but running it without any competition but promote your ass about doing it.

The idea of being "crossfit" isn't offensive to me. But the idea of 5-20 minute workouts, five times a week, making you "elite" does strike me as bullshit.

My guess is that if serious money ever gets into the games (say 100k for the winner), then the person winning it will be training 3-5 hours a day. Probably be an impressive athlete too; instead of being mediocre across broad time and modal domains, he'll be "pretty good".

It's there now. The profile for the actual contenders is solid across the board. They are strong, fast, exercise addicts, many of whom get help from "exogenous hormonal supplementation".

Yeah, they are impressive athletes. I meant "mediocre" by elite standards of the various sports crossfit dabbles in. So instead of the 500lb deadlift they lift now, it might be 650. Instead of a 130kg C&J, it might be 170kg. And what ever a mediocre mile time is, and a pretty good mile time.

They won't get there by doing the mainsite WODs though.
