Judging by the pictures, every single one of the women competing were
1. Leaner than Asstro and Boney
2. More muscular than Asstro and Boney
3. Actually do stuff, unlike Asstro and Boney.

What does anyone want to bet that @F has a marketing package that they give to potential sponsors that says: "@F: Forging Elite Consumers"?

Mother fucker actually believes that BitchMack and Couch can make a sub-2 hour marathoner. Since the record has been set by African runners time and time again, I don't see anyone from Kenya or Ethiopia heading to @FHQ or to @FE's HQ, do you?Blah Blah Blah...
Dwain Chambers uses something called Juggernaut Fitness and has a video of a 68 inch box jump. I bet we could get Janne Holmen sub 2 hours (on that day) by CFing him and working out his body twist.

They must mean a sub-2 HALF marathoner. That would be much more in line with the success that CFE offers - mediocrity at its best.

It wouldn't surprise me, ESPN has aired cup stacking, spelling bees, and fucking Scrabble tournaments.Crust Bucket wrote:I see the likes of ESPN or Versus airing these Games..
You can't find fucking Strongman or heavy athletics anymore but you can always find some ignorant douchebag who's never played a sport in his life talking about how good or bad an athlete is on fucking ESPN, wait they are already @fitters.

Re: The couch thread
The only way @F would ever make it on TV is if they did highlights of the best and the worst moments. The Gaymes would be distilled into a half-hour shown late at night at best. It's only slightly more entertaining to watch than GS.
My guess is that most of the sponsors won't see the return on investment that they wanted and won't be back next year.

Re: The couch thread
No, I think these people really do get the ROI on marketing to @Fitters. They like to think they're indie and all that, but, look: if everybody at your @Fit gym is wearing Adidas or Lululemon, you're wearing Adidas or Lululemon. Think of how many C2s, medicine balls (to the chagrine of Dynamax while they still supplied for @Fit), etc have been purchased because of @Fit. The nearest @Fit to my house has more rowers than my university did, and we had an okay rowing team. Eleiko is pretty smart to be getting in on this, soon a bunch of @Fit franchises will be catching on to the idea that, well, you know, these cheap beater bars are okay, but maybe we really should have a couple high-end bars for our snatches, maybe it does feel better... And while we prefer food to supplements, maybe we should get some creatine and whey, and why not from Progenex because we heard their name a lot this weekend. CrossFit is marketing, that's all it is. Glassman and Co. are reasonably bright about exercise, but I would say pretty genius at marketing. 1700 franchises withi rabid followers == quick ROI if you can be subtle about your marketing, and these companies are good at marketing and can tell that Glassman is too: deep calleth unto deep. Trust me, @Fitters will want to dress like Spealler, as gay as that sounds. Adidas will recoup what they spent on that crappy little film.
It's not good for TV, though. 12 minutes of flailing around on a pullup bar is bad TV. Note how in that little Adidas film they had to do a lot of cuts and weird stuff to make the workouts even vaguely watchable. I think a lot of people, especially as kids, find strongman eerily compelling. You see big guys pulling trucks, heaving crap around, it looks awesome and manly. The events are short and easy to understand: did this guy flip over those cars faster than the other guy? Did he pull that truck faster? Did he throw that weight higher? Simple. With @Fit, it's like, okay, he has to do these things that look like flailing around, and then run around, and then do these things that look like flailing around, and then run around... At least in things like That Ninja Show, whatever it's called, there's a course that they have to finish, so while they have to flail around, there's a definite end (PS I think that show is awesome and that a good @Fitter could do pretty well on it, given how much brachiation the courses seem to require).

The Games Finals were as compelling as when that broad shit herself during the IronMan. Exercise is just not that entertaining.

I hate to be negative, but when it comes to popular trends, magazine features are the death knell that the trend's apex is already in the rearview mirror. See: Grunge, Beanie Babies, et all.lasalle wrote:Back up the money truck, here comes mainstream press on marketing the games.

And as anybody who's conversant with business history knows, once Couch's face appears on the cover of Fortune, the whole enterprise will hit the skids within a year.

You'd kill yourself without the couch thread and so would the rest of you losers. "Oooo let's see what the crossfitters are up to today!" What a bunch of bed wetting faggots you all are.
