The book sounds interesting enough to deserve a look. Amazon should have it to me by the end of the week.

Little over a third of the way through. Trying to be patient and do the exercises, giving them the time they deserve. Continue to enjoy the book immensely.

Went and listened to a Dr. S.L. Robbins talk about diversity in the workplace and how each person necessarily comes with tons of cultural baggage that inescapably shapes and forms their worldview. Thought to myself, "where have I heard that before?"

You are actually not looking at titties, but your culturally ascribed notion of titties. Compounded with the reality that you don't know that you are not looking at titties, and may in fact be the titties looking at yourself.

Wanted to bump this as I had not finished reading through this thread.

I'm about 70% through it and reading it very slowly. I won't have a full opinion about the book or its author until finished but what I learned about the conceptual framework we build around our self and the extreme lengths we'll go to to protect this conceptual self was fascinating.

Just yesterday I thought back to the most fucked up I've ever been and truly realized for the first time that the vast majority of my pain was completely self inflicted and based on nothing more than some concepts about how I had to be that I'd concocted over the years. It's funny now but it was really quite serious then.

Check out the thread on Dreamtigers, small book by Borges. I think some of his parables will resonate.

Finally finished this book. I underlined the hell out of it and will go through it again. I'm not enlightened and don't even "get it" enough to get enlightened but I learned a lot of valuable stuff from this book that I'd never even considered previously. It was neither easy nor fun but it was a worthy investment of my time.

Dreamtigers is now on the list but it's reportedly a literary masterpiece so I'm putting it off for now. I need some mind candy.
